Darn, and I was hoping you were talking about Piers Anthony's Firefly. I was ready to tell you that an old friend of mine and I started a role play about that a while ago and I had an interest in "developing it into a full story".

Her character is a companion, basicly she is like a courtesan kinda. She is a well respected woman of a well respected order. A companion is almost spiritual in the way she works.

Companions take both male and female clients but dont always sleep with them, sometimes its just to go to a ball with them, or to help them relax. Having a companion on your arm is something of a badge of high class.

Companions are very selective, if a guy comes off as a jackass or someone just looking for sex, they arent likely to have their offer accepted.

Inara is indeed lovely, she is one of my favorite characters on the show. But I just cant see her with any of the regulars except mal, and knowing this forum (not to be insulting) but it would probbaly end up as a threesome with Kaylee and Wash who turn out to be siblings and transexuals. Not to mention the S&M.

This is an international Board, so not everyone will possess knowledge of tv-shows running in some other part of the world. I've seen Americans being particularly talented in assuming everyone in the world knowing about what runs on their tv-channels. Piers Anthony ... wow .. I haven't heard that name in about 20 years ... since I grew bored with the Xanth stories.

Firefly is the only book of his I've read. It was a gift from an ex boyfriend at Lit and I cherish it.

I must have read about 20 or so of his books when i was a teenager. Mostly I read the Xanth series, but I also read several books from the "Adept" and "Incarnations of Immortality" series.
