More top list weirdness

I said I’d shut up about this, but what’s happened now is a different kind of weird, so I’ll mention this just to put it on record. I won’t go into the details from before, but they can be found in an old thread below with a heading that starts “story eligible for top list...” The gist there is that a story’s rating on the top list is not what it is on my works page and profile.

Two days ago, a vote was removed from the story, as shown on my works page. This did not, at that time, affect the rating on the top list, which shows more votes than I had ever seen on the works page. The rating on my profile also changed to match what was shown on the works page.

Yesterday, a vote was added to the rating on the top list, but there was no change to the rating on the works page, nor on the profile. As far as I know, at no time has the rating on the top list agreed with the rating on the works page and profile.

With the site folks working on beta-testing the new hubs, I think this is too minor to get (or deserve) their attention. As stated above, however, I want to note this for the record, because at least to some extent, it calls into question what people see when they look at a top list.

That has been the case forever. The tallies shown on different places on the site calculate and refresh at different times and different cycles during the day or even month. The stats on your Author's Works Page are definitive, from what I can see, and update almost immediately (based on experiment on my own story file). There's nothing to "solve" here, it's just the complexity of the site.
