"More Than Words"

You'd be surprised how many best-selling authors would agree with a straight read of what you've written here. :D

You might try something less bitter yourself. Your hate-invested approach is getting pretty stale.
As is yours!

You know something Pilot, I may not react to you so badly, if from some of my very first post on the Authors' Hangout you hadn't attacked. No matter what I typed you treated me in your condescending manner. It's seem to me that no matter how I comment you find fault, even when we happen to have very similar opinions, you'll find something to rant about.

Perhaps because of that I react the same way to your comments. I realize I, at times, can be rather abrasive, live with it, you're no less abrasive.

I'm surely going to react when someone treats me in a condescending manner or tries to label me because he/she can't make a valid argument as to how they're right and I'm wrong, especially when the label has nothing to do with my views and/or disagreement.

As to this thread I respectfully disagree with you, good, great authors are always trying to improve their craft. For many, not just newbies, Jack's post is helpful and I don't see how that site told anyone how to write their descriptions of body language or facial expression. The intent was not how to write descriptions but to make writers aware of body language and to consider it when writing.

See what happens when you read the cited article before your knee jerks? Thanks Dyslexica.:rose:

I'm trying to write a Mommie Porn story and think it needs the sly innuendo and subtle wording to dampen a few panties before Ms Kitty rides her Cowboy, humps the Hardware man and plays with her surfer dude. Romances are much more exacting than Group Sex and my past Men's Porn, with more explicit descriptions, crude language and rampant ramrods waving in the breeze.

I don't know if Ms Kitty should do all of them or just tease them and choose just one for her love slave. With a male MC it's sort of expected that he'd fuck anything that lays still enough to not disrupt his aim. With a female MC it seems that titillation and almost is good enough until the end with cheerful smiling babies at her breast.

Any ideas ladies?

Naw, you were Safe_bet-style (even still think you are Safe_bet, which is sort of OK, because she's really needed to get a Lit. account of her own rather than stealing someone else's) man-hating angry ball busting and gay bashing from out of the gate and have continued to be. That's why I have reacted to you as I have. I have never attacked your lifestyle or used the foul language on you that you have on me from your very first post.

Whatever hurt you that has made you so angry and combative and man-hating, it wasn't me. It never ceases to amaze me that the posters who gay bash me the most heavily on Lit. are self-proclaimed lesbians. And I defy you to find a single post where I have gone after lesbians. Something about my bi and gay leanings just seems to get under your skin and Safe-bet Usurper's and Stella's. Just can't get enough of delivering the gay slurs on me.

What you posted about the issue of this thread is fine with me--it's your opinion, and I, for one, am fine with folks having their own opinion. It was the way you posted it and who you were mocking. This was quite clearly you attacking me from out of the blue, so don't even try that old "he's following me around to attack me" chestnut on this thread.

I did hold out an olive branch, your electing to slap it out of my hand. I'm not putting you on ignore because on rare occasions you really do have something useful to say. But for now I'm just not going to respond directly to any of your post.

Have a very nice day.

I didn't see any such olive branch. In contrast, I agreed with you a couple of times and you still bit on my hand.

What you do from here on out will show what you do. You initiated the attack on this thread.

On the thread topic, what I was doing was offering balance, especially for impressionable newbies to the writing. If it isn't coming out of you, in a voice you are developing for yourself, it's pretty much just more glop for the mire. If you don't have something yourself to express, just don't bother. It's not like there is a shortage of writers in the world. The techniques should come out of something already there that is uniquely you. At least as you're starting, I say. Far too many swallow all those "how to" books and technical aids before they even establish that they have something of themselves to write. The up side of that for the rest of us, is that a high percentage taking that approach never get out of the reading and research mode (although that doesn't stop them from telling the rest of us how it should be done based on what they've read).

I agree with you Pilot, the words have to be yours or it's just plagiarism. However it does not mean that you can't search for other ideas that trigger a larger, more expressive vocabulary. I've found the How To books I've read to be glop written to sell books and don't help all that much. Even well respected writers have a hard time condensing the scope of the subject so it is actually useful.

Even Mark Twain's 'On Writing and Publishing' is more a cautionary tale than step by step instruction.

You two are fulla more shit than Santa's sleigh.

I can imagine you and PILOT peeking in bedroom windows to monitor folks for sexual plagiarism. Or assaying cake mixes for plagiarism. You remind me of the old ladies with clipboards who haunt my corner of paradise looking for shit they don't like.

G.K.Chesterton wrote a brilliant essay on insanity. The truly insane are always the ones who take the narrowest view of anything. Like the cops who write tickets for miniscule deviations from the posted speed limits. Barney JACK Fife and Gomer PILOT Pyle are on the job.

You can? Then you have quite a vivid imagination and a whole of time on your hands. :D

I'm pretty sure I'm the poster child here for "just leave them alone and let them express themselves naturally."

Did he mention anything about grumpy old men who don't even comprehend the conversation, but run off at the mouth about completely unrelated personal obsessions?

You really need to change you AV back to the elephant JB, he was cute.

I got it right.

Trying to put one over on us. Overuse of the "easy button" and being a parasite on what others write. You only now are beginning to do your own work. Which is nice to see--but it sure has taken you a long time and a lot of parasitic living and pretending expertise you didn't have to get around to it.
