I found one of mine here. They did put my name on it but there's no link back to Lit. I bet other Lit stories are there as well.

This chick has also stolen people's stories and put them on her blog with no credit to the authors. I've found three of mine so far.

You can e-mail and yell at them to take it down. If they don't, then I'd recommend going to Laurel, who runs this site. She's very good at chasing down obstreperous story thieves and has a bloody good record of getting them to take our stories off their ripoff sites.

But it's definitely worth having an e-mail yourself first.

You can complain, but that's about it. Legal action is largely useless. Sometimes, site owners will pull stolen stories, if only to head off blog attacks from you and others.

I've had a couple of my stories pirated, but thus far, they have been on personal blogs or groupsites. I flamed the hell out of the owners of such sites, and my stolen work disappeared. That's about all you can do, really.

Don't forget one that is stealing dozens of stories a day, because it looks like the same guy we got shut down a while back by blasting the host with complaints. He seems to have learned, and started stealing less high profile/older stories now, but if you're on there, get out a complaint! I'll dig up the post with the abuse addy if you find your stuff here.

You can do a google search, using the title of your stories, followed by this site: and the url below as your search criteria. That will scan the site for your title, which the little thief doesn't change when he steals the story.

They've ripped off at least nine of mine, probably a lot more. One thing I will say for them is they include the authors' names. That's not much to say but it's better than having somebody make minor changes and post a story claiming to be the author.

Laurel responded to my pm and said she'd give the info to Manu so they could get to work on it. She also said to be sure that the authors with stolen work email the host site since we legally have more pull. Anyone remember how to find out who the hosts are?

If you have only a few stories posted, that is probably the quickest way, but I will probably have to look through all the stories they have, looking for my titles. It's a pain in the ass to do that, and I would rather be writing.
