The Tramps.

Can you recall, dear comrade, when we tramped God's land together,
And we sang the old, old Earth-song, for our youth was very sweet;
When we drank and fought and lusted, as we mocked at tie and tether,
Along the road to Anywhere, the wide world at our feet ---

Along the road to Anywhere, when each day had its story;
When time was yet our vassal, and life's jest was still unstale;
When peace unfathomed filled our hearts as, bathed in amber glory,
Along the road to Anywhere we watched the sunsets pale?

Alas! the road to Anywhere is pitfalled with disaster;
There's hunger, want, and weariness, yet O we loved it so!
As on we tramped exultantly, and no man was our master,
And no man guessed what dreams were ours, as swinging heel and toe
We tramped the road to Anywhere, the magic road to Anywhere,
The tragic road to Anywhere, such dear, dim years ago.

Whispers to the sea.

Where did inspiration go
Walked along by the shore
Placed shells up to my ears
Could not hear it anymore

I did hear the waves rush in
Sounds of a whispering sea
Is that where I’ll find the voice
Was the ocean calling to me

Began the soft whispers back
Watching the sea ebb and flow
I send love out , await its return
Sweet inspiration please don’t go

Please ocean carry my voice
My mind and heart sits by the sea
I sink down upon white sand
Inspiration please hear my plea

Caressing the sand so soft
Sun sinking here in the west
I gazed at the vast blue horizon
To the sea made my final request

Sea Lullaby.

The old moon is tarnished
With smoke of the flood.
The dead leaves are varnished
With colour like blood.

A treacherous smiler
With teeth white as milk
A savage beguiler
In sheathings of silk.

The sea creeps to pillage,
She leaps on her prey;
A child of the village
Was murdered today.

She came up to meet him
In a smooth golden cloak,
She choked him and beat him
To death, for a joke.

Her bright locks were tangled,
She shouted for joy.
With one hand she strangled
A strong little boy.

Now in silence she lingers
Beside him all night
To wash her long fingers
In silvery light.

Life

Dark and Deep,
Standing by a cliff,
Staring down into the dark divide,
Perilous and lost.

Climbing and Striving,
Reaching for higher ground,
Wandering aimlessly,
Hoping to find anyone, anything.

Rising and Falling,
Each day, a new journey,
Twisting and turning,
Catapulting to the depths of despair.

Finding and Feeling,
Journeying to find home,
Believing and surviving,
This place and time we call Life.
