More plot?

I would love to read more stories where the sexual element is secondary to the plot, and therefore the story concerns more of a build up to the sex. Stories, films and games give sex more impact when it is done after establishing greater characterisation and senario building. At least I think so.

Ok, I swore I wasn't going to self promote again, but I started a western series where the sex is something that happens during, and I am currently working on a zombie story with tons of sex, but it's background until the very end.

There are a few of those stories, but not terribly many since most people look at literotica as a place for 'stroke material' instead of intelligent plot filled stories. Usually the most plot you will find is he grabbed me and tossed me down ripping my clothes off in the process, and more along the same line.

Kinda sad but true, but most people seem to avoid anything with a plot and just go for the sex. Actually why the western has plenty of sex and the zombie story will to, only way to get alot of readers is to have plenty of hot steamy sex. :cattail:

I've been told by others that my stories are more plot than sex. I have an eye for detail and like to develop my characters. Link in sig line if you wish.

If you look in the Novels and Novellas "genre" you will find more plot. Most of the stories on here (mine included) are too short to develop much character.

Can I be a shameless self-promoting whore too? :D Or in my case a man-whore?

Seriously though, there are a number of stories that have a lot more to them than sex.

Self promotion is good.....will take alook at all the suggested links as soon as I get afew quieter moments!!! I think I like more plot for the same reason sex in mainstream films turns me on.....it would be easier to simply watch pornography and yet we lust after women, and men I suppose, from films, tv and the realm of celebrity. Anyhow.....I'll take alook at the suggestions!! :)

The more the merrier. ;)

I find that it depends on my mood. Sometimes i want a lot of story. Sometimes i want raw hot sex. I imagine a few people are like that.

I'd like to join in with the self-promotion. Pretty much all of my stories have a strong focus on the plot, except for the "Estelle XMas" one. "My Words Made Flesh" Series has plenty of plot that is carried on from chapter to chapter. Link to submissions is in the siggy.

All my stuff is lesbian though. Just so you know.

intelligent plot filled stories.

I try to write intelligent philosophical stories, but I've never found that plot particularly contributed to making a story 'smart'. Often in a tightly-plotted thriller or adventure story the plot doesn't leave any room for philosophizing or character development, which I personally think are the best parts. My own writing does have plot, but it tends to be rather slow and spread out because several pages of introspection and character interaction, sex, and maybe some comedy or angsting usually occur between plot points. I think that by going slower a richer more immersive story usually results.

What do you guys think about fast vs. slow plot?
