I keep seeing these and even with the well known practice of editors abbreviating things, it still took me a few reads to figure out why it didn't read properly. I believe people that are being paid to do things professionally should do them properly.

"NOW WATCH: Chicken and waffles can call Harlem its home, but its restaurants like Amy Ruth's that turned it into a culinary mainstay in the neighborhood"

Bear in mind, my eyes and other abilities are on the way down to the point I have trouble reading even simple things, so others might catch it a lot quicker.

Seems like this one wasn't abbreviated enough. For a minimal edit, I'd go with something like:

"NOW WATCH: Chicken and waffles calls Harlem home, but restaurants like Amy Ruth's turned it into a culinary mainstay in the neighborhood"

But IMHO it'd be improved further by slight reworking:

"NOW WATCH: Chicken and waffles calls Harlem home, but restaurants like Amy Ruth's put it there."

I think either of those is clearer than the original, and the missing apostrophe is lost along the way.

Could be worse, though. It's been fixed now, but the original published version of this article by an Australian politician said "One demonstrates the hope of Australia, the Australian dream that opportunity is not defined by skin colour or post code but by grift, endeavour and a commitment to achieve": https://www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...m-is-real-reconciliation-20210101-p56r6v.html

The title of this thread reminded me of a local paper about high school kids learning stuff on the job. The headline read "Local Students Get First Hand Job Experience."
