I think it's very likely that the same "scientists" had a hand in compiling the Rassmussen Poll results. I'm 120% sure of it.

Oh, that polling that totals more than 125 percent? What's wrong with that? Amicus, Zeb, JBJ, and 3Squares quote Cluster Fox on a daily basis as gospel truth....the kind of gospel truth spewing in the Saddleback Church by Rick Warren - Rachel Maddow has been following his efforts to get gays convicted and killed in Uganda......
So what is the problem if FAUX NEWS chooses to count 125 per cent as valid?
They regularly count 150 protesters as 500,000....is that a problem?
Mon Ami, 3Sales, and JBJ don't seem to think so.....they're pretty smart, right?

I think you have hit on the crux of the matter. Fox News talking points are like air - they're everywhere. As soon as they're released, they're parroted by all the right wing media, and much of mainstream media, and suddenly, Fox News talking points are seen as common knowledge (an oxymoron if there ever was one.) The fact that you hear them repeated almost verbatim does not necessarily imply that said conservative heard them directly from Fox News.

And what lesser proportion of those really understand the use and abuse of statistics and the caveats about the use of statistics?

On a show that happens to be on Fox that is not a news show, but a morning gab and grab, a graphic was used that totaled to more than 100%.
Big deal. Shit happens.
Oh wait...this complaint from people who believe Manmade Global Warming is true and they have proof it's true.
Oh wait again...the data that all other conjecture of MGM is based on those figures out of the CRU that have now been exposed as a possible hoax by the climate scientist over there in the UK and here in the US.
And on a statistical note depending on the error rate of each sample the total could add up to more than 100%. Of course if you call 100 people and 59 answer one way and 35 answer another then you should have 6 that answered the third way. Unless they let people choose two answers, then of course you will have a percentage higher than 100%.
But I'm betting the unemployed person who drew up that graphic forgot to carry the two.

This is a poll with what should be mutually exclusive answers. You either find something very likely, somewhat likely or not very likely, but never all three (or even two of them) at once. Letting people chose more than one answer would bring down this poll's credibility all by itself.
