It certainly looked like a dungeon entrance. That much was clear. No unassuming limestone sinkhole or discreet trapdoor -- this was a massive stone archway in the basement of an abandoned temple, the lintel carved in the shape of some kind of serpent. An enormous wooden door, bound with iron, was secured with a tarnished brass knob and lock. The key was long-vanished, of course, but that presented no impediment to a bold adventurer.
