Tim Wilkes breathed a sigh of relief as he put the finishing touches on the portrait he was commissioned to work on. Done for a thousand bucks, he finally had enough to see him through a few more weeks in case none of his other queries panned out.

He wasn't that much worried as well, since he expected his new tenant to move in today. Alex decided to come in right as holiday break started to have some time to settle in. Now that Tim had a more reliable stream of income to look forward to, he hoped he could finally start saving a little.

Not that Tim was expecting that big of an income from Alex's rent payments. Most of it would go to his dead uncle's loan. When he inherited Uncle Reuben's house, part of the agreement had been that Tim pay his uncle's debts within the year or the house would be taken as payment instead.

The chance of owning his place, however, was too big for Tim to pass out on. In order to make the payments, he decided to rent out the free room rather than turn it to his work area, which had been his initial plan.

He'd posted ads online and flyers around the neighborhood and the campus. "You're asking too much for it," some of those who'd inquired said. "Even this close to the university, the price is too high." It wasn't his fault-- he'd never been to Tuscaloosa before, much less known about the normal price ranges here (although, after checking, he found he was still within the legal limits), and besides, he needed the cash.

The deadline for the first payment steadily loomed closer. Tim'd almost given up and resigned himself to returning to LA when Alex inquired and said money was no object. Who was he to complain?

Tim was fixing himself a pot of tea when he heard the front door ring. He rushed to the door, eager to make a good first impression.

Emily Wolf

Emily had been trying to find a nice peaceful place to rent from, she was a college student who had lived in some pretty bad places. This place she was moving into however seemed to be rather nice, and had stopped outside the building once before even considering renting from the person. It seemed rather nice and decided to go for it, she was moving off the college dorm so she had very little. She parked right outside the house, making sure that she could park here as long as she wanted.

Once she saw it was a proper parking space she got out and sighed a little bit, she decided to do what she had to first. So walking on over to the front door she knocked, loudly but not the kind of loud knock you would want to open the door and smack the person who made the sound. Her stormy eyes looked around the area, smiling a little bit. Her black hair was actually in a braid today, out of her face. Basically out of sight out of mind, which was how she liked certain things in her life.

Her black skirt a bit high but nothing that would make her cheap or slutty looking, and she had on a plain black t-shirt. She had on black ankle boots that had a thick high heel, she was rather interesting looking for a girl. But Emily has always been single so there was a story there, you just had to be the right kind of person to get the answers you wanted. Emily found it hard to not have any friends, but really she just did not really care. She heard someone on the other end of the door so knew she was heard.

And knew that she had to make sure she looked good, though she was a kind girl. She was some what lazy, when she got home she just wanted to throw things on the bed and relax. But only time would tell what was going to happen here with them, when the door slowly opened up. Her blueish grey eyes looked at the guy and he actually was rather cute. She gave him one of her very kind friendly smiles, brushing a strand of black hair that came out of its bindings and could not help but was curious about him.

"Hello you are Tim I assume? I'm Emily Wolf"

Tim found himself dumb at the sight of the girl. Part of the reason was that he'd always been a bit shy around women --not cripplingly so, but enough to taint the ambiance with awkwardness. Especially pretty ones, and this girl was no slouch in that department.

Nervously Tim craned his neck, looking around for anyone else coming. (Rude of me, he immediately scolded himself, but it was a knee-jerk response. He made a mental note to apologize later.) "Um. Yeah," Tim said, finally deciding there was no one else. "Emily... Um. Hi."

Tim's heart skipped a beat at her smile, at the way she'd swept a stray lock of her hair. (Those tiny things women did always got to him, somehow --he'd planned to make a series of paintings based on it.)

He offered her hand. "You must be... Alex's girlfriend?" he asked.

Emily smiled seeing how he reacted to her, he seemed a bit nervous which she found rather charming in her eyes. She shook his hand and smiled a bit and heard what he said. "Well more like friend now, me and Alex broke up. He didn't like the fact I had little time for him, since I am the college bound one not him. But we are still good friends" She said simply. And she did tell him the truth of course. No point in lying especially if she was renting a room from him, and it was really unnecessary to lie to him.

"I am to say I am rather happy you are renting a room, I know Alex told me you were trying to make it day by day with this place, so I have this months rent and next months rent." She said looking at him kindly, she reached into her purse and handed him a thousand dollars in cash hoping it was okay. She hated using checks and hated debit cards just as much, she could not help but smile a little more. Her hands resting her her hips and was actually rather happy, to be under the same roof with a cute guy.
