Monetizing stories question

I can't find an answer to this and it's something I've been wondering about for a while so I thought I'd ask here. I don't want to try to extort my fans or spam this forum or anything, but I'm just wondering if asking for a fee to write a custom stories for someone is allowed here? Or saying in my user profile that I'd be willing to do that? Has anyone done this?

I'm not money-grubbing and that was never my original intention for writing here, but I've found it really hard to motivate myself to write more stories here ever since my first flurry of three stories within a few months last year--even though those stories were very popular and got a lot of positive feedback (negative feedback too, but that's expected from LW). I finally churned out a fourth part recently after several people emailed me to request that I write more... but I think it might be at least another year before I have enough motivation to write another part. I love the positive feedback I get and I wish I could just clap my hands and write more and get more of that great validation, but writing, especially erotic writing, is very difficult for me especially when I can get so easily distracted by more immediate forms of gratification.

I look in the "story ideas" forum and see interesting ideas for stories I'd like to write for people, but I know I never will because I just lack the motivation to dedicate that much time to it. However, if someone would give me even a small fee of maybe $20 per thousand words I think that would really motivate me to finish it.

I know I could sell books too like on SmashWords but then of course I'd really have to write a lot to begin with. Basically I'm just lazy and testing out ideas. Any feedback appreciated.

You can offer your services as a ghostwriter at sites for such things. But you'll have to do the work to find those sites. I can't imagine anyone here paying someone to write for them.

'Monetizing'

NEVER use that word again. I forbid it.

Now hit the floor and do 80 pushups using only your baby fingers.

There's nothing forbidding you from writing custom stories for money, and I've seen a few profiles advertising that they do so.

( How long such adverts remained there is a question, because I never tracked those that I've seen. It may be that they only survived until noticed by the powers that be or reported by other users. I looked at the only one I could recall just now, and it no longer has the advert. )

Considering you're allowed to mention Patreon, Smashwords, Amazon, and the like in profiles, ( not stories, profiles ) I don't see how this is really much different. I see a lot of those adverts.

The worst that's likely to happen is it will get removed if you put it in there and the powers that be decide it's a nope. Unless you persist in replacing a removed advert, it's just lesson learned, and move on. You're not going to get instantly banned or something.

I wouldn't expect much from it, though. Most requests are going to be outside your comfort zone, or come from super fans, who are few and far between. Usually both.

Not quite sure you've got the right attitude here. You've only got three stories written, it sounds like your motivation is pretty much zero, and you want people to pay you to write? Somehow, I don't think that's going to work.

Most of my stuff is about a Lit page, sometimes a bit more. That's somewhere around 3-4,000 words.

$60-80 for THAT?

There's people who charge more than that.

There's people like myself who charge a flat rate and don't get caught up in word count. Since I tend to be a on the wordy self indulgent side, they get more than their money's worth

But I have two different prices. One is for if you want the story all for yourself to never see the light of day-or publish it yourself and pretend you wrote it.

I charge less if I can then take the story, maybe tweak it some more and publish it myself for sale later on.

I've seen adverts in the story ideas forum and here in the authors forum for someone wanting to pay for a story they want written. Never delved into that any farther. I write because I like too.

I do put my works on pay sites though. ;)

I know, but it might work. I'd rather test it out than always wonder.

If it's any good, and according to the customers wishes, sure! The place I work for charges 50 bucks an hour for me, can you write a good story in 45 minutes? 😄

I'm actually looking around for writers to commission atm and it's really frustrating that there seems to be no way to find people offering commissions more easily 😩

My authors were members of the writing group I belonged to. They both came to me separately, (one erotic writer, one mystery) and asked me to ghostwrite for them. I jumped on that!
