An idea I just thought would be funny.

Mom has a friend in her mid to late 30s who is lonely and really wants a baby.

Mom also has a son who is having trouble finding work after college and doesn’t have a girlfriend.

So mom decides to get them together. Maybe she just wants son out of the home, maybe she wants friend to be happy, maybe she wants some grandkids, in any case, she’s hooking them up come hell or high water.

Edit: one possible ending could be that friend falls for mom and son isn’t ready to get hitched so mom ends up with friend raising her grandchild/stepchild while son still joins them in the occasional tryst.

I figure mom isn’t subtle about it but also won’t come out and say it. Like having son oil up her friend while she’s tanning and then yanking his trunks off, claiming they have a stain on them (“she babysat you were younger, nothing to hide…and besides we’re all adults here oh god, darla, your bikini is all wet, that’s no good, I’ll go wash it, you two have fun-byeeee”

I grew up in a mid-century suburban neighborhood filled of homogeneous post-WWII families with 2 or 3 kids each, the oldest all being about the same age, the younger also in similar-age groups, same as their parents -- salarymen veterans with stay-at-home wives. More than a few homes sported swim pools.

Set a story in late 1960s suburbia, with acid, pot, free love, The Pill, and easy divorces. Neighborhood divorcees, freed from boring husbands, organize to share-around their studly 18+ sons. Whose lad is most satisfying? How are 18+ daughters involved?

I have something close to that, but it's really the mom's friend's daughter. Both the guy and girl involved are twenty-two-year-old virgins. When they do meet, they are canny enough to hint at their lack of experience without actually confirming it.

This sounds like a good story idea. The pregnancy part might be hard to convince her son to do; any guy that age would think he's too young to be a father, especially with his mother's friend. Maybe she gets them together because she see's how lonely they are and having a tryst would be good for the both of them.

I’m fine with the pregnancy angle being dropped. Honestly I just thought it would be funny for a mom to see her friend take and interest in her son or vice versa…and pushing them towards it or being the catalyst.

Like maybe son hasn’t had a real relationship or things have never gotten sexually intimate, while friend has either always been reluctant to get into a relationship or just after her partner left or died. Mom doesn’t expect the relationship to last very long, she just wants them to find comfort in each other and see that there are other people who who are interested in them and that they can take the next steps in their journeys

Maybe it's just me. I don't like the "the two kids not picked for kickball hook-up" vibe. I far prefer the 40 y/o mom who acts and feels 25 and has a vibrant 35 y/o friend who rocks... She also has a put together 18 y/o son who's bored with immature girls his age... So, she gets a brilliant idea based on the fact guys peak at 17 and women at 35... It's perfect, not about tricking, but convincing them to see what she does.

Why not have a baby too. It takes a village... But... three is a small village.
