MODULAR COMPOSITION vs ORIGINALITY

I've never read of it in any how to write book but much of what I write exists other places. That is, I steal most of what I write. And most of what I write are 'modules' connected by transitions. I mean, why re-invent the wheel? Its how engineers write fiction. Psychotherapists steal from each other, and think nothing of it.

What are modules?

In PSYCHO Robert Bloch wrote a scene where Norman Bates fucking loses it big time with Miriam. He invited her to the house for coffee and a bologna sandwich. There she said something mildly critical of his ma, and he went nutso. I cant imagine how to improve on it. So I don't waste time trying. It goes in a file full of similar. depictions. Where I need it I make alterations for best fit.

Or this jewel I partially stole from Raymond Chandler, SHE WAS AS PRIVATE AS FIRST CLASS MAIL, AND AS EXCLUSIVE AS THE CORNER MAILBOX. You could phrase it, HE WAS AS PRIVATE AS A MEDICAL CHART, AND AS EXCLUSIVE AS A FILE CABINET.

By now Jimmy, the English language is just being rephrased endlessly. I believe it's called omage(?) that is plagiarism to draw attention to the original author as a appreciation.

I'm sure the English have a term for it.

I have a theory, I call it the Prime Number Theory, that asserts: most things are distributed such as prime numbers are distributed. So, it follows that there's an operational limit to stuff. That the set of stuff is operationally finite tho the universe of stuff may be infinite.

Don't you mean 'homage'?
