I had always been adventuresome and somewhat of a scamp, but when an old lady approached me about retrieving some rare artifact, I felt warning tingles which only heightened my curiousity. She babbled about how I was only to take the lamp and not waste my energy carrying anything else on the first trip.
I felt the warning but by the time I was about to say no she had pushed me into the cave and I tumbled backward on loose gravel.
"Shit," I cussed as I slowly activated a light stick and got my bearings. The place was filled with dust and treasure, from paintings to tapestries, crowns, pearls, gems in all shapes and sizes from small rubies to fist sized emeralds. They all seemed surreal and I touched but did not take as I headed off in search of a lamp that was worth more than everything else.
It was right where the old woman had said it would be, a soft hazy beam of light showing off the dust covered artifact. I was sure it was brass and appeared very common and cheaply made, however it was not my place to judge so I used a soft cloth to pick it up. The treasure glimmered one moment there and the next minute gone. I rubbed my eyes surely I was imagining things. I reached the opening and there she was, loud angry, and greedy. She demanded I give her the lamp first.
I was pissed off, here I was tired and thirsty from the trip and she was demanding the stupid lamp. I grabbed a string of pearls and threw them at her. Suddenly the ground started shaking and the world tipped.
I must have hit my head because the next thing I know I'm sitting up feeling like a herd of elephants had a party in my head and the opening has caved in and the treasure is now revealed as cheap trinkets, children's baubles and tourist junk.
My head is pounding and I groan as I sit up. I feel a huge bump forming on my head and I notice the silky cloth I had used to protect the lamp. I wondered what the hell the lamp really was, some rare artifact?
I moved it closer and slowly began polishing the surface, well it wasn't brass, nor gold, but some odd beautiful and shiny metal.
"It's fucking amazing." I whispered as ancient script suddenly wavered and translated before my eyes.
<I> the holder of the lamp is entitled to eternal riches, power, or passion. Choose wisely <i>
I blinked and the script was once again indecipherable, it seemed odd. What would I choose? Power seemed the least desirable, and riches never made anyone happy, but how did one guarantee eternal passion?
"Eternal passion would certainly be cool though"
Suddenly smoke filled the cavern and I was amazed that I could still breath, when the smoke cleared a being appeared before me and spoke.....
