Mine are long right now but that's just because I don't think about cutting them and they grow fast. For some reason my SO doesn't like them long... Well, for the guys who might be reading ... i'd love to feel a few raking over my flesh.

I have to keep mine short and unpolished ... work ... nails can slice thru gloves easily and all sorts of gook gets underneath.
