I agree the CSA flag needs to be in museums, in cemeteries, and at memorials for CSA war dead. The issue was decided, the war ended, and the CSA went away. And 100s of 1000s of men died in the war. Right or wrong or whatever, they paid the price for their convictions, and many of them were compelled to serve in the armies. Both sides drafted soldiers.
One of my ancestors died in the war. He opposed secession, voted against it in the legislature, and said publicly he believed it was treason. He then freed his 200 slaves and went to war, because he also believed he was obligated to do as the majority ordained.
I just read a book about those times, the author says people's allegiance was to family, residence, state, and country, in that order. We elect senators and representatives from distinct places, not generally. Otherwise New York would dominate the nation. UF sux, FSU rules if state government is all Tallahassee residents.
We can sanitize Capital City and Washington of every memorial, because plenty hate Washington and Lincoln and MLK and Vietnam Veterans and all the rest.
