ChiSox expected to exercise Kimbrel's $16M option and then trade him before the start of the 2022 season.

Smart move by the FO ahead of the imminent start of CBA negotiations. Some dumb team that thinks "they're just a closer away from contention" will chase after him.

---

In the NL, the Rox signed Cron to a 2-year deal. I'm going to be targeting him in all by fantasy leagues next year. Dude's bat is compelling in Coors Field.

There's been a handful of signings and option exercises, but nothing to write home about as far as I can see.

Next up, the CBA work-stoppage.

Tigers add Eduardo Rodriguez (E-Rod).

There's an analytics-driven signing if I ever saw one.

Not sure I understand this.

You want a first-time manager to helm a team that by all rights underachieved in 2021 and that should be contending for the NL West every year for the next few years?

Instead of Melvin who is 5th on the list of # of wins by an active manager and who took the A's to the postseason 7 out of the 10 years he was there?

He'll get us about the same amount of wins we usually get and still miss the playoffs. The A's are in a horrid division and have a good team with good upper management. He doesn't really lift my skirt and he sure as hell isn't gonna get us the additional 30 wins we need to compete for the division.

They'll make the playoffs next year (as a WC team), mark my words. Clevinger will be back and Gore is putting the jitters behind him in the AFL.

All bets are off if Tatis separates anything.

I looked up Gore's AFL stats............the Friars are fucked.

There's always competitive pole-dancing for you.

$21M for a dude that hasn't pitched in 2 years. Sounds about like a Halo move.
Hopefully he bounces back from the TJ surgery.

Jose Berrios signed a 7-year, $131M extension with the Blue Jays.

Yes, that Berrios. Crazy!

Brent F'ing Honeywell, he of the 5 pitches before his arm fell off, he who is now just starting to pitch at the big league level again after four years..........gets traded to the A's for cash.

Why in the everlovin' fuck can't might team make trades like that?

Steven Matz signs 4-year, $44M contract with the Cardinals.

Should have gone to the Angels or another team intent on deploying a 6-man rotation next year. Matz was brilliant on extra rest with the Blue Jays last season.

After being DFA'ed last week, the Yankees released Clint Frazier yesterday.

Here's hoping my Phillies take a run at him.

How serious? We have a keeper fantasy baseball league that may need a replacement owner or contemplate expansion come spring (or whenever the work-stoppage that's coming ends).

I'm in a 11 team keeper league and have been playing for 20+ years. I'm curious about your league, though. I'll PM you my email address hoping you'll send me league info/rules.

I think we're on our 16th or 17th year.

Standard 5x5 with OBP and QS replacing AVG and Ws.

Roster Positions (IL expanded due to COVID-19):

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IL, IL, IL, IL, IL, IL

We keep 6 every year at no cost/penalty.

No limitations on trades. If two people agree, two people agree.

Two-way players: in-game as two respective players.

Those are the highlights. I'll look for your PM.
