Samantha or Sam as her friends called her was a up and comming young lawyer at the one of the best legal firms in Canada. She had just moved to Toronto from Nova Scotia after recieving her Law Degree at Dal. She was here to do her year as a paralegal and research assisant. She was yet to meet her 'boss' since he was one of the partners in the firm and very busy.

Samantha was very worried about how it would go. In her past experiences her male bosses did not take her seriously since she was tall and leggy with flowing Curly black hair and a strange almost silver colored eyes. Most of them thought she had gotten through school with her looks. It had never occurred to them that she might actually have a brain in her head, not just a pair of 36B breasts and a round ass.

Samantha was hoping that this would be different though. Sitting waiting in the office she was directed to wait in she started fidgeting, was she dressed professional enough. Looking down she was sure she was, after all she had a tailored black knee length skirt suit on with a silver blouse and closed toe pumps. what could be more professional?

Daniel had always wanted to be a lawyer. When he was younger it had been his one dream and there had never been any doubt in his mind about the career path which he should pursue.

Daniel was around 5ft 9inches and broad shouldered with a waist of 34 inches. He dressed sharply at all times, always wearing the tie and a dark pristine suit. Today he had a meeting with Samantha. An interview to see whether he would accept her placement. And he was late.

Eventually though he arrived at the office and took in Samantha's appearance as he moved quickly and purposefully to the otherside of the desk where his chair was located. A moment later he was seated. She was an attractive woman with a stunning body. Her hair was black but what made her stand out most was her eyes. He couldn't look at them too long and he made a mental note.

"Samantha I presume?" He stood again and offered his hand.

Samantha had stood when he entered the room. Looking over him quickly from head to toe taking in his pristine suit (well tailored she might add) she watched him place himself on the other side of the desk.
"good" she thought he was being professional.
Walking over to the desks she shock his hand "Yes, and you must be Daniel or Mr?" not knowing if she should call him by his first name, she waited for his response.

"Mr. Evans." He stated professionally as she queried him. "Daniel Evans."
He took her offered hand and shook it firmly before offering her the seat opposite.

"I understand you want to work with us for a year?"

He watched her as she answered, knowing that her body language was also tell him alot about herself.

"Please, tell me, why and what you can offer myself and the firm?"

He crossed his arms and leant forward to listen to the response. The question always gave a wide range of answers and he was interested to see what she might say.

Taking the offered Seat Samantha sat straight backed and thought just for jsut a second. "Well Mr. Evans as I am sure you know I graduated at the top of my class at Dalhousi University. I Was on the Deans list when I finished my BA in Political Science, a four year degree i finished in three. I am a eager learner and I am driven to succeed. for me there is no try there is only Succeed succeed succeed. I am a very good at research as my marks indicate, I do not miss the slightest detail and more to the point this firm needs me or someone like me, with the case load and up and coming high profile cases, the firm can not afford any mistakes and mistakes are the one thing I have learned not to make."

Hoping that she did not sound full of herself Samantha waited for Mr. Evans response.

"I do not miss the slightest detail and more to the point this firm needs me or someone like me, with the case load and up and coming high profile cases, the firm can not afford any mistakes and mistakes are the one thing I have learned not to make."

Daniel mused over her answer for a few moments.
"Well you seem to have researched the firm; that shows good initiative. Your degree record speaks for its self. But to claim you can't make mistakes...that's a little arrogant don't you think?" He leaned back in his chair now watching her carefully. Her good looks obviously helped her as well but he knew these sort of women, bringing that up would help no one.

He swiveled in his seat as she answered and continued with another question,

"Tell me, have you done anything other than research?"

Thinking maybe Mr Evans had not read her resume Samantha answered.
"I spent a summer tutoring during my first degree, I also had a clerk position at a locla law firm during my last two years of law school, where i file, faxed, phoned and anything my boss would not do. I also spend time with disadvantaged children when I can. I run for Breast cancar every year and I I have been a party planner as a job to help pay my way through school."

smiling Samantha thought she sounded like a scripted reader, rambling off the resume that was probably on his desk, maybe he thought she lied on it?

Daniel nodded away as she reemed off her qualifications and finally he smiled, placing his hand in the air, "Alright, you check out."

He stood and walked around to her side of the desk, taking a seat on the desk its self.

"Well, if you were me, and I were you, why would you hire me so to speak."

He laughed, "Quite the tongue twister isn't it?"

He looked down at her then, the final big question of the interview had now been asked and her respnse might very well decide her future.

"If I were you I would hire me because not only would you be qualified but you would be willing to work night and day to get what ever had to be done no matter the cost of time and effort, you owuld eat sleep and breath work, and of couse you would do all of this without a complaint."
Hoping that was the answer he wanted Samantha smiled.

"Hmm." He stood and paced towards the door, placing both hands in his pockets as he moved thoughtfully about the room.

"Night and day you say?" He moved back to the table and picked up her transcripts, "Your university certainly seems to support that theory." He placed the transcripts back in her hands.

"They key to a healthy long time worker though is one who works most of the day, and some nights when needed but who knows how to rest and enjoy recreation. That way you don't burn yourself out." He moved back around his desk and took his original seat, "Do you know how to do this?"

"I know how to succeed but yes I take care of myself, I go jogging every morning and swim most evening, while I work night and day I usaully do so over a plate of pasta and a glass of mine, just one glass mine you because i need a lear head. So yes I can balance work and my health, if I couldn't i probably would have burnt out in university."

"Good. I'm glad to hear that." He stood again and moved back around for the last time. He offered his hand to Samantha, "Since you enjoy eating out may I take you somewhere as a congratulations on your new position here?"

Taking his hand in her own for a brief hand shake Samantha look at him, right in the eye's and said. "Dinner would be nice, strickly to celebrate my new position though Mr.Evan's?"

Daniel raised a brow, "Did I not just tell you that was the exact reason I was taking you out Samantha?"

He let go of her hand and grabbed a jacket from a nearby stand. "You seem somewhat on edge by my request?" He asked her, "Bad experience?"

Of course it was probably none of his business but he had asked the question now, he'd see if it relayed anything else about Samantha's personality.

Not sure if she should answer but wanting to be open she responded "let's just say I had a boss who thought my looks were what i relied on and was willing to try and take advantage of it." she smiled at him slightly "he learned pretty quickly that i had a brain."

Daniel took a step back.
"Believe me Samantha, if you didn't have a brain we wouldn't be hiring you..." He paused, "You look good, I'll admit that and you don't seem to have problems admitting it yourself, but looks don't help a law firm if the intelligence is lacking."

He moved to the door, "Or do you disagree?"

Samantha agreed with him fully "i agree Mr. Evans where would the firm be if we were all here based on our looks, I don't imagen we would be quite so successful, do you?" she let the question she in her eyes as she reached the door.

"Fully agreed."

He opened the door for her and placed his hand briefly on her back as he led her out into the corridor.

"Now, do you have a favourite place you like to eat or can I choose?"

After the answer was given he would lead them to his car and begin driving to the place in question.

Thinking to herself Samantha could not help but feel the electricity of his brief contact.
"I am new around hear so I really couldn't say, so how about you chose."

Daniel nodded, "I know a great little place. Run by a good friend of mine. He calls it Arcado's. Though if you ask him why he'll never answer. It's definitely not his name." He chuckled, then led her to the car. Moments later they were driving the streets and Daniel was talking with Samantha again.

"So what do you think you're going to like most about working here?" He was so conversation, he was an expert at making people feel at ease.

Closing her eyes and relaxing for a minute Samantha almost didn't hear the question.
"I think what i well like the most is experiencing the workings of a large firm up close, getting to know how everything is run, from the ground up. But I well also like being in a new city far away from home." she smiled at the thought of leaving everything and everyone behind, it was the main reason she applied for a position halfway acroos the country.

Daniel nodded. "Yeah, the big bad city." He chuckled, "It is alot of fun and working for a lawy firm, it can be undeniably challenging but is definitely worth while.

Finally the car pulled smoothly up to a curb and Daniel turned off the ignition, stepped outside and moved around to the passenger side of the car to open up Samantha's door. "Here we are. What do you think?"

The restaurant was definitely upper class, it was three stories high and the outside was a glittery spectacle. Daniel smiled smuggly at it then offered Samantha his arm. "You should see it in the evening."

Looking at the enterance Samantha suddenly thought she was under dressed what would it be like to come here in the evening with a nice dress and romantic intentions
Snapping herself out of it she to Mr. Evans arm and used it to pull herslef to her feet.
"This place looks amazing, is the cook as good as the decorater?" she asked smilling.

Daniel grinned. "In my opinion yes. I love the sea food orders." He stated matter of factly.

He led her to the door which he opened for her. INside was another door which was opened for both of them. Moments later they were inside the restaurant its self. Candles were lit every where, the soft fragrant smell of their perfume radiated around the room. Daniel signalled to a particular waiter who came over towards them. "Usual table John."

He looked to Samantha, "You'll have to sample the dishes yourself and let me know. So I think I'll have only thirty minutes to wait for your opinion on the cooking."

Samantha smiled at him so this was his usual restaurant was it.
"Well I guess we well both just hve to wait." Looking around once again she wish that this was not a business meeting and the Daniel um mr. Evans was not her boss.
