McConnell condemns Biden fury over GOP voting reform as 'utter nonsense'

Hysterical Biden: "We’re facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War," Biden said in a rebuttal to GOP calls for voter reform.

Common Sense McConnell's Rebuttal: "We’ve won two World Wars, faced down the Soviets, unwound brutal segregation, defeated actual Jim Crow laws, and endured the 9/11 attacks," he said. "But now the sky is falling?"

McConnell is just engaging in a classic example of the "there you go again" trick: stand back, let the Democrats tell the truth about the GQP's nefarious motives, and then say "Aw shucks, folks, we can't be that bad, can we?" It works precisely because the Republicans really have become so extreme. To a low-information voter (and that is most of them), the truth about them probably does sound like it must be an exaggeration.

Well, 9/11 did give rise to a lot of folks on the right being perfectly fine with making George W.M.D. Bush a dictator for at least a while. It's never a good sign for democracy when people start talking like that.
