Recently, someone suggested we incorporate the phrase, "Mistakes were made" into the language as a new verb tense: the Past Exonerative.

Discuss.

It should be possible to write porn in the past exonerative tense...

I like it.

I'd also suggest that we write a new law: one allowing us to dictate whether subpoenas can be issued when an investigation is going on.

Hmmm I wonder if that would fly if I ever need to defend myself in court....

"Banks were robbed."

I think it works.

Why does this business remind me of the film Clear And Present Danger?

Especially the scene where Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford, yummy, but that's beside the point) confronts the President over an illegal war against the Colombian drug lords.

"I will not let you dishonor their memories by pretending that you had nothing to do with it!"

I can't forget that line. It is etched in my mind after that. Especially in light of recent events.

I just heard from the White House. They would like to see "Present Exonerative" as well as "Future Exonerative" just in case Karl opens his mouth again.

"Mistakes are made."

Covers present and future.

Not if you were a rich taxpayer.

True. Being something of a "limousine liberal", I admit that I'm not exactly suffering from the shaft.

It's other people, my neighbors and such, who get screwed over.

I'd love to become a limousine liberal! Where do I sign up?

"Limousines were purchased."

"Guilt was experienced."

"Caviar was served."

:D

Didn't Scooter Libby write a porn novel? I haven't had the pleasure of reading it, but if the "reviews" are correct, it won't pass the "under 18" sex rule...nor the bestiality...nor...?

I thought it was only Lynn Cheney who'd written a porn novel. Are there more of them?

Oops. What I meant to say was, "A novel was written. Now it's time to stop playing the blame-game and move on."

Edited to add: I hope Scooter at least used a pen name. I don't think I could read even good erotica by a man named Scooter.

After reading some of the very witty samples above, I thought of an oldie but goodie: Shit happens. And so--

Shit happened.
