Missing Stories

I've read a lot of wonderful stories on this site...my gosh, there are many great writers, and I'm lucky people consider me one too.

However, I've noticed that I can't find a couple of some of the stories I really liked. I used to be able to find them, and now I can't. Does anyone know whether some stories are taken off after a while? The stories I've been looking for haven't been on the site all that long, and I've just wondered.

Thanks for listening...reading...whatever... :D

Peace,

I'm not qualified to answer this question, but I will anyway.

A story could be removed -- by the people who run Lit, if they discover it's a copyrighted work to which the claimed author has no right (for example), or by the author herself (if she wants it pulled for any number of other reasons). A story might also have changed categories or been otherwise edited since you read it last, so it's possible it's just in a different place or harder to find with a search.

If you don't remember the title and you're using the search feature, you should also note that it won't search the story text itself, just whatever keywords the author supplied when the story was submitted. (Or so I hear. My information is all hearsay, or perhaps heresy.)

Furthermore, don't discount the possibility that you only dreamed about reading these alleged stories. I have very vivid and realistic dreams myself, especially when furry woodland creatures are involved*, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I hope this helps!

* I won't say which creatures, because other people on these forums are probably sick and tired of hearing about marmots.

Oh, and see...

... the thread below (Re: my humble opinion) for other reasons that could be involved with a story being pulled. Assuming, again, that you didn't dream all this up.
