OREGON CITY, Ore., Aug. 25 — Investigators searching for two missing Oregon teen-age girls said on Sunday they had identified the body of one of them and found a second body on the same property. The FBI said the body found Saturday in a shed behind Ward Weaver’s rented house is the remains of one of the two missing Oregon girls, Miranda Gaddis.

Two things stand out in this article for me:

Weaver knew Ashley, who was a friend of his daughter. She frequently stayed overnight at the Weaver house, went on a trip to California last year with Weaver and his daughter, and even lived at the house for several months last year while her own father was in jail on charges of abusing her.
Ashley had accused Weaver of molesting her the previous summer, but he denied the allegations and was never charged.

This article doesn't say anything more on these two points, but it makes me wonder why she and her friend had to die and the suspect's son's girlfirend had to be raped before something was done about him? (The suspect is currently in jail for the girlfriend's rape.)

CNN (among other news sources) are also making a big deal of the parallels between this case and the case the supect's father is on death row in California for. It wouldn't surprise me to see a "hereditory insanity" defense raised.

If it were 1872...

We could have a Father & Son hanging! Fuck genetics, all people KNOW it's wrong to murder, or else they wouldn't try to hide it. Execute them and get on with living, that's the best solution, and make it public!
My Great Grandfather was a partier, and hung with the James Gang. He watched a public execution of a horse thief one day, in which the thief was hung and shot at the same time! He immediately stopped his borderline lawbreaking, and cleaned up his act.
Public executions have two effects, either it scares the bejeebus out of criminals, or it grosses out the public, and is abolished. :D

No we couldn't. The father has been on California's "Death" row for twenty years!

If this were 1872, the father would have already been hung in 1852

I haven't been following this case at all. Now I want to read a little more because this seems very weird, maybe eventually even macabre...

There is no way to rehabilitate this kind of criminal. I vote we put him down.

Anyone remember the karate instructor that kidnapped his prize student who was maybe 9 or so, took him to Disney, and molested him repeatedly? Dad was waiting in the airport, pretending to be on the phone when the FBI walked the pig through. One quick shell to the back of the head, case closed. There was such a public outcry surrounding the arrest, Dad went free.

I haven't been following it closely, but it doesn't take much digging throught he back articles to figure out that the FBI and local police forces seem to have taken lessons from the Keystone Kops.

The rash of child murders this summer has really pissed me off....Any child molestor who is convicted should be jailed for life. Any child molestor and or murderer who is found guilty should recieve a bullet to the back of the head. I dont want to hear about the perps bad childhood and all the other excuses that we seem to hear all the time. Enough is enough:mad:

It's a rash of reporting. I've seen repeatedly where the statistics have not changed. It's the cause of the day.

Police and teachers, how many times have we heard this, simply must somehow be compensated better. So many cases, high profile Ramsey, Foster, Levy in which it seems the cops exacerbated the situation.

Then of all things watching America's Most Wanted hire a P.I. and solve a case FOR the police...

Simply amazing!

I hope that this man is sentenced to death. Maybe they could dip him in some chicken batter and deep fat fry the bastard.

Sorry if I offended anyone...I just hate to hear stories about these kinds of people.

In death do we learn...?

Neither for or against just sometimes it seems we need further study.

And what do we do if we find it's genetically hard-coded, or even worse, if it's not, that it's a choice.

It is a choice, a choice between right and wrong. If the sob is found guilty then its time to thin the gene pool......
