I was wondering why some categories don't feature on Literotica, specifically Bi-sexual stories and threesome.
Literotica has lesbian, gay male and group categories but not the two mentioned above.
These seem to be favourite fantasies (bi and threesomes) so it comes as a bit of a surprise that there is no category for them.
I know that there are stories that feature this in Lit, but I also know they are placed in different categories and let's face it, anyone who has spent time on the story lists, know how hard it is to troll through page after page looking for the right story.

Do you think there is a way we could get these categories up?

Am I the only one interested in getting them up?

Maybe if we create enough of a stir we could get some results.

Anyone want to join my cause?...anyone?

Well, what exactly are bi-sexual stories? A woman, for example, can be bi-sexual, but her encounters are either with men (Erotic Couplings) or with women (Lesbian Sex). Or she can meet someone with caracteristics of both genders (Transsexuals & Crossdressers), or with one or several of each gender (Group Sex).

Threesomes, the same way, are only a sub-category of Group Sex, aren't they. ;)

Actually, I see bisexual as it's own category, though I agree that 3-sums are a subset of group sex.

If a person has seperate sexual encounters in the same story with a man and then a woman (or the other way around), bisexual makes sense as a category. It's not the biggest concern on Lit, but I've run into problems myself of not having an appropriate category to put stuff in.

A PM to Laurel with a significant number of links to stories you think should be moved to a new category -- especilly stories to move from erotic couplings to a new category should be all that is required.

I believe it took twenty story nominations to get the Humor and Satire category established.

What Laurel looks for to establish a new category is a) a base of existing stories to start the category off and b) a a resonable anticipation of new stories for the category. I don't think the categories you're suggesting will have any problem with the second and fifteen or twenty stories in each of those categories should be easy to find.

The problem I see, is that there are already enough cats to cause people to hesitate when submitting. Anytime you add one, the need should be great. A threesome is just a subset of group sex. I don't see any need to specify the number of participants in the group. You can always do that in your blurb, for people looking specifically for a threesome.

Bi-sexual is ify. If it's a bisexual male, the story usually centers on his relations with one or the other. With women I think it's pretty much the same. Only in cases like the evil fuzzy-wuzzy said, where your protag samples both in the same story, but in different scenes is there a problem. Gay males are unlikely to be favorably impressed by a story with straight sex, ditto lesbians. At the same time, if you go erotic couplings many guys will get irate if there is M/M sex in a story where they don't expect it. I think Harold's advice is sound, if you can find enough stories where it is a problem, then perhaps a new cat is needed.

I'll take all that onboard, thanks for your opinions.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the subject???

I'd really appreciate it, so I can figure out if new categories would be needed or not.

There are other places in the wide wide web with erotic stories. Five years ago, it was standard for the stories to include a line of coded references. For instance, F/F, F/F/M, Inc, Ageplay, Reluc might appear under the title and author. It would refer to the sorts of encounters in the piece.

Lit has never had such codes. The categories are not the same thing. Perhaps we ought to be using a second "description" field?

That's actually a good idea, I've been to sites that feature this and it makes choosing stories to read that much easier. It also prevents people from reading something they don't like, and author's don't end up getting feedback like, this shouldn't be here, or I thought this story only featured this..etc.

In fact this system would save having to get new categories, altough for larger sub-categories, where there are a large number of stories I still think it would be necessary to get new categories.

bump

Sorry, but I thought I'd give this thread a little bit more of a chance.

Hi MissLusty, don't think we've met before.

I'd like to disagree with everyone so far and say that IMHO threesomes are definitely not a subset of Group Sex. To my mind, a threesome is a very contained sexual encounter, with a very set and limited number of protagonists, whereas Group Sex tends to be free-form, many many couplings and can have god knows how many people fucking in them.

I'd say that Threesomes is closer to Erotic Couplings (as they're usually a couple + 1), rather than the more chaotic Group Sex (Not as much structure and any number of participants).

I'd certainly back up a petition to Laurel about that (and not just because I'm writing a story with a threesome and am not happy about putting it in Group Sex).

Thank you Earl (is it Earl or The Earl, lol.)
You've voiced a lot of my own thoughts just then.
I don't consider threesomes a sub-group of group, I know they are related but I see group as being a free for all orgy (not that that's a bad thing ;)).

I might start noting down and finding twenty stories in Bi-sexual and the threesome categories.
After all it doesn't hurt to try.

Miss Lusty- I just put up two threesome stories, myself- easy to find those. :)
I agree with threesomes not being part of group. I worried about people being disappointed when they only found three people in my group stories.

Thanks Sophia, I'll note those down.
And don't feel worried, until you have a category where you can put it where fits you just have to put it where you can.
