Won't someone please direct
their own attention to these poor
poems which, to my regret,
don't thrill me any more.

Seriously, I need someone with a bright and shiny perspective to gobble up this review day. I'm becoming sour with the need to review poems when I can't summon my own muse from the corner into my fingertips. I figure I'm not giving good poems the attention they're due and that really upsets me, my responsibility is not just to the readers who pop in to check out my recommendation, it is also to those poets who submit and have poems posted my review day.

I can't read you all the way through, poets and that is a serious disservice to your talent. I'm sorry.

If you feel you can fill in the Friday slot for reviews, I'd really appreciate anyone stepping forward to take my place.

You'll be missed.
You're a great reviewer.
Anyway, this is a bump and I hope someone will volunteer.

I'll volunteer to take the Friday review for a weekly spin.

Nice boots to have to fill. Is that real snakeskin?

Oops

I see on the review thread that Hmmnmm has already been dragooned, so I'll happily let him have the ... er ... pleasure.

You would be wonderful as reviewer. So will Tihmmnmm. I propose you fill in and supplement the reviews. That way we'll have a double taste of poetry man on Fridays.

Nice try ... but I've already done it before and I would hate to take even a drop of the glory from someone who might enjoy the rush of power and the ecstacy of a thankless job well done ... not to mention the excuse for that second scotch to wash down the bad taste of frequently mangled metaphor, wretched rhyme and muddled meter.

Enjoy your newfound moments with your muse. I expect to see some kick-ass poetry as a result of Hmmnmm's kind efforts.

On that calm fated night, too calm, not one breeze, and few more stars... that night I was summoned and informed of the Friday Poetry Review slot that was now unfilled. Eve beckoned with those hypnotic poetic lines, that I attempt to fill that Friday slot that the too-charitable Champagne left.

Well, first thought: I bet you guys make this reviewing of poems look much easier than it is. But, being eager to be of service to my community in what ways I may be ably able, I had them sign me up for the two time plan.

It is very possible that two times will be plenty, for me and for the dear poets who may have to suffer terrible misunderstandings. But who knows.

So you should stand by and be ready for the call to serve your community, which I'm certain you do ably well.

Okay... got things to do.... not really.

Ahh. You should have read the fine print. You will see if you get out a magnifying glass that "time" is defined "for the purposes of this contract, notwithstanding definitions in scientific and literary dictionaries, as being of a duration of at least one year." A two time plan is therefore two years plus a Friday, unless it is a leap year or Eve batts those hypnotic southern lashes ... or is it lashes those southern bats? Probably both so close to halloween.

So that's what that was. Fine print. Thought it was one of those fancy flowery .5 pt. bottom page borders. For the official flourish effect. And I'd say a southern bat or a northern, western or even eastern bat would be happily hypnotized with Eve's lashes. I'd sign up for that two year plan, plus two Fridays. But yeah, I know, get in line huh?
