Ok, so this is for those of us who are relatively thick (it'll only be me i know...*sigh*) who have q's not necc related to writting for which an answer is required. :)

So,

1) I want to send a mass email but i dont want anyone to see each other's email address for privacy reasons, if i put most the addresses in 'BCC' (i was told that meant blind carbon copy...?) is that how i do it? (i never use the function...)

I'm sure i'll have more...

Thanks to anyone who wants to help out a damsel in distress ;)

Use " Bcc". It will send to everyone, but the email addresses will not be visible to anyone but the sender.

What the beautiful Vana said.

Thanking you Lady Vana

This thread can be used for those q's that don't fit elsewhere, that require a short answer, and therefore we wont have 30 new thread's posted daily... as it gets rather iritating after a while...

Haha, I have a thread kind of like this over in the editor's forum... only that one is for stupid questions related to writing. :) I have a lot of them.

I have another Q

- I have a song i want to clip for a ringtone. Does anyone know of any free software i can get hold of to clip my song, or has someone got said software and are you willing to let me send you a song for clipping?

:)

Ok, I have a couple questions.

1) I have a video file downloaded, and when I play it it has a different time listed from the actual time. Is there any way to fix this?

2) I am trying to get a MAME Emulator to work, but so far my efforts have been fruitless. I have the Emulators downloaded, but when I download a game they just don't work. Help?

1) ?, different time than what? Usually the time listed in the player is the length of the clip in hours:minutes:seconds not the time of day.

2) ? What the hell is MAME Emulator?

1) The duration of the clip is different than the time displayed in the player.

2) MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.

Ok, here's an art question. I'm doing a story that involves an artist, and I wanted to know what they called that board where they put their pants and mix them was called. I'm more of a music guy anyway. :p

1) - What player are you using? I have Media Player and WinAmp, neither of which displays anything but the elapsed time of the clip playing.

2) Never used it, sorry.

Well, the problem is consistant with all my players. I've tried it with Windows Media Player, Real Video Player and Quicktime and the problem is the same.

What time are you talking about that the player displays?

The duration of the video clip I'm watching. Like it will say 1:00 when it is actually close to half an hour long.

Ok, so look in the library for Windows Media Player. There's a column that says "length." There are some files there that have the incorrect length of the clip. When you clip on the file and play it in the player, it usually tells you the name of the file and other information like how long it is and how much of it has played. So it counts down right, and when it reaches the end of the listed duration the bar and the timer stop, but the file continues to play past that point.

Let's say the clips information says it is 1 minute long just for an example. It plays for a minute and counts down as usual. The bar reaches the end, and the timer stops. However the movie itself continues to play past that point.

What version of Windows are you running? What version of Media Player? And what are the file types that give you the wrong time?

It's the file that's the problem, not the player or windows. Like I said, this problem is consistant with all players. Also if you look at the info for the file itself the time is listed wrong there too. It's definitely something to do with the file itself. As for the file types, they're all just regular MPEG's

I would have to say then that the player is having trouble the file. I have never really noticed this, but I don't pay that much attention either. :D
