military

Yes I have family in it. I have close friends in also.........so Yes is the answer.

Some have already "left the building" as it were. (i.e. on their way to their assignments and they left rather quickly I might add)

I think there are quite a few here. My husband is in the military.

Both my husband and mybrother are in the military. My brother is in an infantry unit at Ft. Campbell and my husband is a combat medic soon to be stationed in a Rapid Deploymet unit at Ft. Carson <meaning when we go to war he leaves within two hours of the phone call as does my brother>.

My son is in the 2nd Btn., 156th Infantry, Mechanized. He is fifth generation US Army. (Well, technically 4th, since the first to serve was in Pickett's Alabama infantry.)

My fiance is in the air force, at a special ops base. They told his squadron yesterday that if they don't have passports, to go get one. I am a ball of nerves, never having to deal with anything like this before.

goddess: don't fret to overly much! though it's a special ops base...doesn't necessarily mean he's at risk. what does he do?

EOD...........

He's in a CE squadron, and does electrical engineering and power production. He has to go tomorrow to fill out power of attorney papers and make a will, but that's all he can tell me..........So now I am VERY worried!

Well, I would like to say Thanks in advance to all the military personnel who are/will be/supporting whatever action is getting ready to take place. This goes out to all the wives, children and families of the Military families.

goddess. ahh....CE :) i'm in the ce squadron here at mcconnell afb ks. (EOD, explosive ordnance disposal-the bomb squad) no worries! it's normal really. those are all typical things that all of us have to get just cause we're wordwide deployable. i don't know how to explain it to ya...but suffice to say i'll give him about as much chance as deploying as me. what "air expiditiary force" is he on? (AEF) currently it's aef 8's rotation. i'm not sure which bases are supporting aef 8 but i'm pretty sure it's not hurlbert field. unless he's aef 10? which will probably pick up the deployment rotations in december-feb. typically to get "ready" and be deployable you need to get a will in order, a general power of attorney, civilian passport, emergency locator card, immunizations, dog tags, and a couple other lil tid bits like getting enough soap/razors/underclothes/shampoo/toothpaste to last 120 days. it's all normal! i did the same thing over 3 years ago...and again when i relocated here to kansas. now if he starts talking that he attended an antiterrorism level 1/2 course then i might get a itty bit worried. he's not with red horse is he? red horse is a heavy equipment CE detatchment i didn't think that hurb field had a red horse unit. if you have any more questions send me an email. i'll be glad to answer them to the best of my knowledge. sorry for my delay in response :) just got back from spending some time with my G/F. hadn't seen her in over 3 months.
