Military Chaplains Threatened With Arrest If They Celebrate Mass On Bases During Shutdown…

Mind boggling to think a priest could be arrested simply for holding mass.

Via Daily Caller:

In a stunning development, some military priests are facing arrest if they celebrate mass or practice their faith on military bases during the federal government shutdown.

“With the government shutdown, many [government service] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases worldwide are not permitted to work – not even to volunteer,” wrote John Schlageter, the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA, in an op-ed this week. “During the shutdown, it is illegal for them to minister on base and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so.”

According to its website, the Archdiocese for the Military Services “provides the Catholic Church’s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services to those in the United States Armed Forces.”

Our battalion chaplain was a bad ass. He would never listen to this nonsense. He carried a 1902 colt peacemaker with ivory handles. Never did figure out how he got that approved.

Arabs are Semites, Syrians are Semites.

And the children of Israel are also Semites...

...so, your failed point is that Israelis are Arabs and Syrians, too.

Here, let me serve you your favorite LIT order:

No, you dunce. I'm telling you that Arabs are Semites, and that Syrians are Semitic Arabs. Jews are not the only Semitic people. Get educated.

Actually, poindexter, "Jews" directly references the religion Judaism, not Semitic culture and/or ethnicity...

...ie: there're a whole bunch of Semitic people in this world who aren't, obviously, Jewish, just as there're a whole bunch of Jews in this world who aren't, obviously, Semitic.

And, since you're "telling" me "that Arabs are Semites, and that Syrians are Semitic Arabs"...

...that illogic would also insist that since Syrians are Semites, then Arabs are Semitic Syrians, too.

Again:

 (™vetteman)

You understand that what we know as Syria today was seeded by the sons of Shem long, long before the Semite seed arrived in Arabia...

...right, vette?

What's next up that educated sleeve of yours, vette?

You gonna school me that Iranians are Semitic Arabs, too?

[You know, if I knew exactly where you live...

...I'd get a kid to dress up as an Arab this Halloween so he could knock on your door and I, observing from the curb, could laugh my azz watching you crap pumkins out of your Depends.)

PeePee's threads are always the most fun!

Can the US constitution expert state the official name of the republic called Syria?

Hint: It has the word Arab in it.

Clue: the reason "It has the word Arab in it" is because of conquest, not origin.

Can the playgrounder stick to piddling with posers and supporting adults who knowingly cyber with minors?

Seriously? The best comeback you can throw at me is Recidiva and the PG?

Are you also gonna argue now that Arab Sunnis do not make up the majority of the population of Syria?

If you can't get your facts right, atleast hone your sarcasm.

What happened eyer?

I'm still waiting for you to tell me that Arab Sunnis DO NOT make up the majority of the population of Syria, or that they do not have Arab Alawites or Arab Christians.

Yeah, he won't let the boys loose in Syria. They're raring to kick some more Arab ass, aren't they?

So phrodeau implies that there are Arabs in Syria.

Syrians aren't Arabs, doofus...

eyer states that Syrians aren't Arabs.

Subdued_Passion tells eyer that Arabs are the ethnic majority in Syria.

eyer attacks Subdued_Passion by making references to playground, Recidiva and piddling.

Now eyer, try a real personal attack. It'll give me an excuse to do the same to you.

(take your time make it good, I most likely won't be back before Sunday night)

Playgrounders never cite for fear of being exposed as just that...

...here, let me for you:

A country of fertile plains, high mountains and deserts, it is home to diverse ethnic and religious groups, including Arab Alawites, Arab Sunnis, Arab Christians, Armenians, Assyrians, Druze, Kurds and Turks. Arab Sunnis make up the majority of the population.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syria

So, why did you intentionally choose to list only the "Arab" inhabitants of Syria...

...and not even mention the other "diverse" ethnicities?

Here's the relevant statement:

Syrians are Semitic Arabs
.

A statement that's blatantly incorrect just on its irresponsible generality alone...

...now: go back and read some more and return here and inform us what you "know" about what the people of today's Syria were known as before they were invaded and conquered by Islamic Arabs.

BTW, I hear you've had quite the hard-on for a proven sex offender on this board. Are you looking to replace a lost love?

Really? Where in the world would you "hear" that?

Subdued_Passion tells eyer that Arabs are the ethnic majority in Syria.

You forgot "Sunni" there...

...(if you're going to plagiarize from wiki, at least plagiarize correctly).

Comparably, Christian Anglos are "the ethnic majority" in the United States...

...and Americans are Anglos is just as incorrectly absurd as Syrians are Arabs.

And, of course, both starkly omit that the dominance of either sub-ethnicity is due wholly to conquest, not genealogy...

...what you got, playgrounder?

*On military bases.* You can do whatever you want on your time on private property, but during a government shutdown, you can't just do whatever the hell you want. What don't people get about private vs public?

Military personnel who reside on military bases do not give up their constitutionally protected right to "the free exercise thereof." Just because you're ill informed 8th grade civics teacher misquoted Thomas Jefferson's letter, and implied that it was incorporated into the Constitution doesn't mean that you have any idea what you're talking about.

this ^^^^

It's a Catholic rule that is causing the problem. Catholic priests can only hold mass in a place with an altar, so they need the chapel on a military base, which is public property requiring maintenance and security provided by the government.

If Catholics were allowed by the Pope to hold mass in a private residence, they could use one of the homes on the base. But no, that's against their own rules.

No asswipe, any one who knows their history and their anthropology knows that Iranians aren't Arabs, they are Persians, ya stupid fuck. Oh back on point, Syrians are Arabs, which are a Semitic people. Get educated.

Don't confuse him soon he's going say why do they speak arabic and not persian.:D
