Oh. Damn. <blush> how embarrassing...

I cleaned, I cleaned - soon as I got the 'your inbox is full' warning.

Shame there's no 'you have one space left in your inbox' warning...

There is, and not just the colored bar on the private message pages:

Welcome, Weird Harold.
You last visited: Today at 03:24 PM
Private Messages: 0 Unread, Total 0.

That's from the top right corner of every forum page. I'm not sure whether it counts sent messages or not; I usually don't save copies of sent messages.

Actually I can't understand why anyone lets 150 total PMs accumulate. It's so easy to take a few seconds to delete (or download and delete) each message as you finish dealing with it.

It counts sent messages, and ones in other folders if you've made any.

Because we're lazy?

Can't be that -- being lazy is the reason I keep the PM storage at zero as much as possible; I don't like to takt the 15-20 minutes it takes to clear everything with a dial-up connection (even at the very old 50 PM limit that was in place the one time I did hit the limit.)

It's so much less effort to make an extra three or four clicks to get rid of one or two messages than it is to dig out old PMs and kill them.

It may *say* how many messages you've got in total, but it doesn;t *alert* you to it... there's nothing that taps you on the shoulder (metaphorically speaking) and says - hey you lazy tart! Time to clean up!

Your lazy is different from my lazy. :)

I keep having 100- 145 messages in my storage. When it looks like I might reach 150, I download the earliest and store them in my PC. The earliest because I'm particular about having them filed by date, and it files by the date downloaded, not by the date I got them. So, I keep downloading about 50 at a time when it is close to overflowing, and then I get too bored with the whole thing to download them all. So it never gets empty for me to keep it that way...
