Mid-Life Crisis - Averted

A 40+ dad is finally through with a bitter divorce. His daughter was one of the cool kids, cheer squad, drama club, etc. So there were always kids over the house. His daughter has started at university a few states away and now he's alone but managed to keep the house, and is faced with dealing with an empty bed and an empty nest. However, the ruggedly handsome fella, who managed to keep himself in good shape, finds that he's had many admirers over the years in the crowds his daughter ran in. Classmates, moms, teachers, etc. The bed doesn't stay empty for long. A sexual renaissance, if you will.

I REALLY like this idea. I could see it going a number of ways.

One thing I think that would be fun is dad tries to do the single life the way he used to back in the day, only to get a hookup in an unexpected way or due to him doing things he only can as a middle aged guy.

For example, he goes to the bar on ladies night, is surprised by how much it’s changed and feels out of place there till the bartender, one of his daughter’s former upperclassmen says hi. He gets to chatting and she tells him about some of her problems at the bar (broken stuff, harassment, etc) and having a project he CAN do something about, he helps her out while chatting about things. Closing time comes and bartender asks if he had come there hoping to get lucky, which he admits to, right as bartender kisses him and tells him to take her to back to his house.

Or daughter’s friend keeps coming by. She decided to take a gap year but all that did was leave her with a lot of doubt and now all her friends are at university or working. Dad gives her some advice as well as some parental guidance she isn’t getting at home and she gets the confidence she needs as well as a rough idea of what she wants to do. Maybe have that one be a sort of background plot during other chapters and then they have sex after they‘ve really established their friendship.

Of course all the middle age moms and teachers will want to check in on him and see how he’s doing…just as friends of course. Not because he’s taken to walk around shirtless with his daughter gone.

Other potential partners could be wife’s sister: she’s nervous about asking for help due to the divorce but he’s really good with her kids and she’s had a crush on him for years.

Or since we’re talking about mid-life crises: dad finds out his high school crush has moved into his neighborhood and recently had her kid leave the nest. Maybe a chance to hook up or maybe it takes a different turn?
