I think the president has more important things to do then weigh in on the status of two high school students.

Like win an election in which the Hispanic vote is widely considered a make-or-break demographic?

Do you really think the Hispanic vote is going to be swayed by this one story? And if he did do it to "sway voters", why not take credit for it, the news story never mentions him, the only person who says its "Obamas doing" is the OP.

Step back. Reverse the result: he girls get deported. Yes, the Hispanic vote would be swayed, and yes, he would take the blame, regardless of who did or didn't mention him.

The inside game of this election began about a year and a half ago, when Obama started quietly shoring up Hispanic support way ahead of any potential rivals. His team are election ninjas. If you knew what to watch for, you saw an election won in advance back then--before anyone else even started running.

This tiny story happens to fit into a larger picture. In isolation, it's a what-the. In context, it's winning an election for him.

I guess I see it on a much more local scale. I imagine that local politicians, in the face of pressure from the community, had much more to do with her and her sister not getting deported then POTUS.

Can I call you sunshine? I really think will all the light you shine on my day, its a must.

I see no need to treat you with kid gloves. If you act dumb I'm going to say so. Whether or not that affects your day is entirely up to you.

Yup.

These girls are all over the Spanish-language media. Telemundo and Univision are national networks with huge viewerships.

i think the right thing was done in behalf of the kids who are innocent. the parents should be arrested though.

Really? I had no idea. I dont watch TV, and get all of my new online. While the story did appear on CNN, I was under the impression it was a mostly local matter.

Overstaying a visa is not a criminal offense, it's an immigration infraction.

You can't get arrested for it, but you can be detained and deported.

The girls' dad is a U.S. resident now, so he can't be detained, not sure about their mom.

it was a local matter but the louder you squawk the more heat gets put on the feds not to look like Nazi storm trooper.

You're in Texas, right?

This happened in Miami.

What does that tell you?

yeah yeah yeah

but by definition of the Supreme Court once your movement is restricted it is an arrest. So if they scooped them up in essence they are arrested though no criminal charge is levied.

by the way love your feet.

harsh, krc. texas isn't nearly as dumb as garbage can. i have no idea what she finds to talk to him about since messages containing mostly "i'm a drooling idiot that hits on anything with a vag...............................................:)" would drive me to stab him in the eye but she tends to make generally intelligent posts otherwise.
