@#$%^&*@#$%^&*MF'ing SPYWARE!!!!!!!

I've spent the past three hours removing adware and spyware from my PC.

Damn it.

It's one of those nasty little spyware programs that managed to sneak in under my protection software. It attempted to change my home page and then warn me that my system was in danger (so I would then go to their site and pay to download their software).

Pricks. PRICKS!!!

After I exhausted my efforts with my software I logged onto Lit's page with the spyware test - have you seen it? Well, it didn't identify what is bugging my computer, but the link to the page with information was very helpful. Kudos to Manu and Laurel for this element of Literotica.

I'm off to restart computer to see if the latest cleaning worked.

I use spybot, Adaware and Regscrub along with my firewalls. I'm a neurotic.

Spybot, adaware, stinger. used in combination, they seem to get almost everything that has come down the pike thus far.

Spybot, Ad-aware and HijackThis and most importantly don't use Internet Explorer.

Oh and stay away from porn sites, that's where you pick most of them up.

I just KNEW I was doing something wrong.

Yeah, I've been using Mozilla for a couple of years now, since my last experience with IE spyware, but Firefox isn't as immune as it used to be, so watch yourself.

I have MacAfee running all the time but a few shits still slip through.

Isn't it time we insitituted testicular excision for those found guilty of promulgating spyware?

Unless they can parse and give a brief definition of that sentence. Then we can nominate them for the presidency.

Spybot, Adaware, Spyblaster and XP Professional. Haven't had a problem with spyware or adware.

Yes. Bastards, anyway.

I use MacAfee, too, and it religiously updates. I've also added Stinger, SpywareGuard, Spywareblaster, Spybots and SpyCatcher. I'm a safety girl.

But what got in my system was Spy Axe, Spy Trooper, and SpyGuard. These aren't removal programs, they are spyware themselves. And they merged with IE, making them damn near impossible to remove.

They also sent dozens of pop-up messages saying my system was in danger, ya da ya da, and the messages were very similar to what Windows would have sent. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky.

I can see how they easily ensnare business.

Pricks.

Sue the bastards. Did they ask if you wanted to install them? Depending on your state you may be able to sue them in small claims court and get 500 - 1000 bucks for your trouble. Well at least a judgement. Collecting may be a little harder, but it will put them on notice and under the scrutiny of your state Attorney General.

Oooh, I like.

I like very much.

I finally just left their stuff on IE. When you open Explorer it automatically goes to their home page - called a "Security Center" with dire warnings. Now that Firefox is working beautifully I can bypass them completely and just send the information in.

Muah ha ha ha haaaaa!

Actually I have the information now to completely uninstall their system but now I'll wait just a bit. :D

Had to fix a friends computer with something similare installed. Took two days to clean it out. Multiple runs of Adaware, Spybot S&D and a registry cleaner. Plus a lot of manual work, deleting files (exe and dll's). Good thing I kinda know what I'm doing.

Just a little fyi, tho- there are some websites that don't work on firefox for whatever reason, so you'll still have to use IE occasionally. Which sucks.

Or you could just install Opera. I use it sometimes, seems to work pretty well, haven't had any problems with it.

Just so you know they are required to place removal instructions on their website.. If you can't find it email them and theaten leagal action. They'll reply with the info on how to remove it. Has worked for me everytime.. I also for Zone Alarm to be the best at blocking this crap along with Firefox but they are nwo figuring out Forefox infortunately.. plus it found several trojans and a couple of viruses that Norton And McAfee missed. They were laying dormant on my system but not any more.

They also install multiple copies on your system. If you use the removal program they are kind enough to include it will only remove one of the copies.

I found instructions for removal elsewhere, but I believe I'll pay their site a visit, too. You know, if this had happened to my dad (well, first I'd ask him what he was doing surfing a porn site - :cathappy: ) it would have truly given him fits because he would have believed the nonsense they were selling. My dad knows just enough about computers to get himself into trouble.

And he would have bought their bullshit hook, line and sinker.

They also appear on kids gaming sites.
I always have to check after my son has been looking up cheats for the play station. He can't access porn sites, I've made sure of that.

That's why they do it.. a lot of people fall for it..
I hope you get everything taken care of sweetie.

Thank you - I'll let you know how everything turns out!

SPYBOT - Search and Destroy.

Damn! What a great program!

It's all gone now, finally.

While still using Internet Explorer I couldn't remove the spyware. But when I added Firefox, then put aside the IE and ran SPYBOT through my system it finally killed it.

Excellent.

Here's the link to the DOX desk, a terrific link from Literotica that offers many helpful suggestions to computer troubles, including links to free software downloads.

NOW - the only problem I have is that I can't open my excite account.

Laughing -

Anyone know how to enable Java? I keep checking every single place, Internet Options, Firefox Preferences, etc. I'm enabling Java at will, yet it still does not let me log in.

I have yahoo addresses, gmail addresses, etc. Maybe I should just kiss excite goodbye?

I hate that crap. I have Ad Aware and Black Ice to protect me and haven't had any problems. MacAfee sucks!

If you are tryin Firefox you should also try Avant browser, it is a little better once you stop accidentally throwin toolbars and stuff around, but its nice when you mean to throw stuff around. I tried Opera browser also, it is fast but it wasn't what I wanted.

You can try them all for awhile and then just delete which ones you don't want, I liked Firefox when I first tried it and even bought a couple of thier t-shirts, but I like best and am stayin with Avant.

If you get some lil replicating bugs, that you kill and then they replicate when you restart, you should try the Adaware. I can go into my registy and kill stuff, but don't have to much with Adaware.

Also the thingie you had sounds like one which Hi-jack This would pick up easy. With the Hi-jack This program you may need for someone to read your logs at first until you get used to it. I used to post mine for experts to look at but now I do my own and peoples send me thiers for evaluatin and stuff.

All of this stuff is free and Google Search is your friend and will find you a download link.

Viruses, worms and hi-jacks .................... Kill em all, let god sort em out.

Just my opinion.
