Messaging App of Choice?

Wow … my very first thread! I feel like a cool kid.

It seems like Yahoo Messenger is the messaging app of choice around here. Is there any reason why? I'm so NOT a big fan. I'd rather do Skype or Hangouts than Yahoo.

Kik on the phone

I've never heard of Hangouts

I use Skype mainly. I'm not sure why yahoo is so popular.

I use Skype or Yahoo. I think that Yahoo is popular because it was what everyone was using quite a while ago and everyone just downloaded it to chat with the folks who were already here.

I use all 3, plus Kik....if ya wanna chat with me, just pm me your name and which its for. Hope to hear from you sometime.

I love kik and Snapchat

In terms of why, I use my phone more than my pc. They are both good for swapping images and you don't have to feel like you're letting people into your 'real life' if you don't want to. Giving a stranger my email or Skype feels a bit too personal for people I don't yet trust.

I think this because YIM is probably more stable and reliable than skype or hangouts. But then most people prefer kik and even live messenger. But I really think YIM is extremely reliable.

i use yahoo for people i meet online. skype i try to reserve for work and business related things (and actual rl friends...)

Seems like Yahoo Messenger is popular, but I wouldn't mind doing Skype (especially for audio ).

Haven't done Hangouts, but I'd be interested in it for conversation on the go. Kik messenger also works.

In my view, Yahoo has gone from being the "it" thing to overlooked--and that is the very reason why we gravitate towards it. Now, I may be a fuddy-duddy (I am in my 50s, after all), but it isn't a matter of Skype or G+ being better. It's that the conversations we have from Literotica to messaging are, well, impolite.

Put a bit more succinctly, I think Yahoo Messenger is the quiet back room; Skype and Hangouts are the dance floor where you might run into someone by accident.

I use Yahoo and Skype. I prefer Yahoo by far, it has many more features than Skype does. I'm kind of surprised some prefer Skype, I certainly do not, but use both since some don't have both for some reason.

I used Yahoo years ago and I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. I prefer Skype and Hangouts.

Kik is okay too.

I realize there's so many programs out there now but was just wondering why Yahoo is so popular. I've been asked if I had that several times this past week.

You know what? So did I until I signed up here! None of my friends use Yahoo nowadays and much to my chagrin, it's extremely popular here. Kik is okay but I don't use it either.

I used Whatsapp a couple of years ago. I think there's a trend depending on what's in.

Installing Kik as we speak! I'll take a look at yahoo too
