ok .. I'm having a Blonde moment here . Aughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Someome PLEASE tell me how to check when I have messages sent to me . Send your replies to VQuad@AOL.com.

I presume you are talking about the Private Messages here at Lit? If you are, you want to go up to the Control Panel in the upper right part of the screen. Click on "Edit Options". About half way down, you will see a section entitled "Messaging & Notification". The last two items deal exclusively with Private Messaging - asking if you want to receive an email when you have receive a PM, and asking if you want to receive a pop up window when you receive a PM. Just selection "yes" to whichever, or both, options you want to use.

If you simply want to check your messages, click on the Control Panel selection in the upper right part of the screen. You will see a section entitled Private Messaging that will list all of the PMs you have received.

Thank you for answering my question . Alas . I still have a Blonde moment question if you would be so kind to answer . I receive email notices that someone has replied to a post of mine . What the heck does that mean ? I went to the site that was in my mail ....... and all I saw was the mail that was there that I replied to . I checked my messages ...... thanks to you for letting me find them ........ and no new messages were there. Thank you so much for the info .

He watched her sitting alone in the restaruant ...........
Wondering if she were there to meet someone ............... It had been 20 minutes since her arrival .......... she sipped the glass of wine .......as she surveyed the room ..........her eyes made contact with him and he was the first to break away ...........

Not to worry, we all have blond moments here at Lit sometimes. :)

You can receive email notifications for 2 reasons.

1. There is a selection at the bottom of the screen when replying or starting a new thread that says "Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies. Only registered users are eligible." This would be checked if you want to know when some one has responded to a thread you have either started or have contributed to. When you receive the notification, it should tell you who responded and, when the link is clicked on, it should take you to that same person's contribution. In some cases your inbox would be inundated with emails, Lit normally only sends out one email notification, and then you must go out and check it before receiving more.

2. There is an option, contained with the "Edit Options" under "Control Panel" that sets a email notification for any thread you might contribute to. If you are contributing quite a bit to the General Board, I would imagine this could become cumbersome, as you typically respond to many threads and don't always expect to go back. But Lit does give you the option.

If you are receiving email notifications, and have not checked the box below where you are responding, check your settings under the Control Panel. Once you have been set up to receive email notifications, they will continue until you stop them. This is simple. When you receive an email notification that you no longer wish to receive, scroll down on the email until you see something that says to unsubscribe from a thread. There should be a link. Click on that link, and you will no longer receive email notifications. However, if your default in the "Edit Options" of the Control Panel are set to automatically receive emails, you need to change that as well.

If you feel for some reason that this system is not working properly, you can always contact one of the board administrators (listed in the upper left corner of the boards) or send an email to Laurel, owner of the site. I've found the mods and Laurel to be very helpful in trying to understand how things work around here - great group of people!

Good luck, and if you have any more questions, you can either ask me or post your question on the "How To" board.
