To the authors, editors and all of the reading Lit community.

It’s already 9am and the kids have had us up since 5am, breakfast has been had and we’re all settling in to chill for the day.

On behalf of my wife Beth and I, I hope that you all have an amazing Christmas, with family, friends, good food, tasty drinks and the feeling on contentment of being able to take a break after what has been a hard fought 2023.

Cheers!

My wife is about to desert me (after hooking me up to my antibiotic infusion), having to provide communion for a couple of Christmas Eve church services. My convalescence restricts me to the house. A satisfying day. I just finished writing a pen name New Years story (having had a Christmas Eve story posted here today) and finished painting ten 2025 Christmas cards. I'll look for something to watch on TV while enjoying the den Christmas tree while my wife is gone. Also satisfying is that, not being able to drink liquor while I'm on the painkillers I'm on, a friend has taught me that putting vanilla in egg nog is a good substitute in terms of taste (I've found that it is). Have heard from my son's family today but nothing from my daughter so far. Regardless, Christmas at home, even while convalescing with restricted mobility, is a hell of a lot better than Christmas in the hospital or rehab.

I wrote this on my Patreon a moment ago, I'll share it here:

Hello, if you're reading this, thank you, and I wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope you have positive outlook for the new year. I saw recent survey which found that most people are lonely during the holiday season. That's okay, it's a normal feeling. The only advice I can possibly give is that happiness exists when you're working toward a goal. What do you love? Work toward that. Create something. One of my favorite quotes is from Marco Pierre White, "perfection is a lot of little things done well." The same is true with happiness, I think. It's the little things, the small steps you take each day, which create happiness.

Merry Christmas everybody.

I hope it's full of fun with family and friends.

May y'all create happy and joyous memories that last a lifetime and beyond.
