Meow Mix. Cats Ask For It By Name.
Mine always did. I used to feed my cats Meow Mix, and they would gobble it up, and ask for more, just like the commercials say. Sometimes I'd fill the bowl twice a day.
My cat Olliver is obese, and the other two are getting pudgy, so I decided to switch to IAMS weight control food. I mixed it with the Meow Mix, so it wouldn't be a big digestive shock to them, and they seem to like it okay. But they don't whine for food anymore, and they barely finish one bowlful in a day's time.
I've come to the conclusion that Meow Mix is probably devoid of nutritive value, and the reason they "ask for it by name" is because they get very little sustenance from it, beyond crude fat. They ask for more because no matter how much they eat they never feel satisfied.
I think it's ironic that the advertising thrust of Meow Mix hinges on the fact that its appeal is rooted in the cat's perpetual state of hunger.
