I have a story going and I want to introduce a mentally challenged adult as a lover for the main character. The problem I am having is that the thought kind of makes me think of it as pedophilia. Don't get me wrong the woman will definately be of age, but she will have the intelligence of maybe an 8 year old.

So I have two questions. First is that against any Literotica rules (I don't think so but I want to double check)? Second how creepy is it?

As a follow up to the last question, would it be more or less creepy if the main character had sex with her because she asked for it (after talking with other women who had sex with the main character).

Looking at it logically a 'learning difficulties' (get your PC labels correct) adult with the apparent mental capacity of an eight year old would be psychologically pre-pubescent and would be unlikely to desire a sexual relationship.

Having said that I can see where it would be ineresting to explore but not on a porn site.

Having said that, I think it likely that the 'mental' age would be sufficient for laurel, Manu etc to reject the story on those grounds.

I think Icky is reasonable grounds too.

This is the place to ask such a question, since we very gleefully deal with all manner of fucked-up topics.

However, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this topic should strike you as out-of-bounds (I can't be certain without seeing how it's handled, but bear with me through some reasoning). We (mostly) write for entertainment, though some of us actually care about our content (sometimes  ), and we tend to do this with some forethought, especially if we are pushing the boundaries (of the rules or our comfort zone). There needs to be a compelling reason to write something so awful, a justification of sorts.

For the life of me, I cannot see why you'd do this; you'd fall between the cracks in a space no one will appreciate you. In other words, you'd not thrill the "misfit" crowd (for lack of a better all-encompassing term) because they'd not want to hear about 'tards having sex (please excuse the offensive word, but I'm making a point here). Simply put, it's not a turn-on for anyone, and it will be highly offensive to the majority of us who know the realities of mental illness.

That being said, I do know of examples where it has been used as a side plot and not seemed out-of-bounds. For example (free plug here, though I am not sure the writer will thank me, hehe), the Halloween entry, The Sickle by DG Hear, has grown challenged "children" in it, but the brush on your intended topic is very light and a very minor piece of the entire plot. It's one thing to intimate really messed up relations/abusive stuff, it's quite another to explore it.

There are plenty of creative ways to scratch your creative itch without offending or just not entertaining anyone. I'd strongly recommend you explore those before going ahead with the loophole-like pedophilia.

Once again, this is simply an opinion you asked for. I'd not think it was creepy; I'd think it was out-of-bounds (whether she asks for it or not).

Thanks for the input everyone. I really do appreciate it.

I feel I should explain a bit. For some reason when I am writing, whole story arcs just materialize in my mind with no seeming basis. The thought of having sex with someone who has the intelligence of a child is incredibly creepy to me, and I view it as being as bad as having sex with a child. That being said, this story arc jumped into my head about the main character running into this woman. To make a long story short, he rescues her from a bad situation and moves her in with him and his harem (not really a harem but close enough). This is where the arc disintegrates into various tangents. The childlike woman knows the man has sex with all the other women, but feels left out when he doesn't have sex with her. He doesn't want to be creepy, but she doesn't want to be left out. So there is moral wrestling going on.

There is also the idea that she was part of his harem and then has an accident that reverts her mentally to a childlike age. Does he stop having sex with her?

Another option is that they never have sex since she never quite understands what sex means. That way she will never feel left out.

Or another option is that she is merely naive and has been extremely sheltered. So initially they don't because it would be creepy, but as she spends time in the real world and matures she understands.

I am kind of leaning towards naive, since it allows the moral dilemma (actually could make the decision harder) while also allowing for growth and a decision going the other way.

Anyway... I'm really not going for creepy or trying to challenge the reader and push the boundaries of story telling. I'm just looking to write an original and good story with a complex character. If anyone has read my most recent story that is where the character might be introduced.

Thanks again for your comments.

Don't mention the mental age, simply imply it. I think it is worthy of story here, because, even though the mind is not matured, the body is. I think there will be come sexual response in the body regardless of the mental age. And hey, who is really able to judge the mental age of a person, perhaps your character's mind had developed further than what anyone expects. It's an uncomfortable subject, but I think that is exactly why you should write about it.

Everything stated before has been true to a degree. I will say, form my experience working with retarded adults (call them what you like), it did nto matter what developement age was assigned to them, the hormones of puberty and sexual drive worked just like they do on the rest of us. I have a friend with an autistic son, who caused a great deal of problems for the family when he discovered masturbation. Romantic and sexual encounters among groups of Retarded people is very common.

This subject would have to be considered just like sex with children and the physically disabled. If one partner cannot make a mature choice and be aware of the consequences, the better able partner is a criminal. No force or corersion is needed.

I thought the idea of sex with a mental 8 year-old was extremely creepy too, but as I was reading your explanation, her character and the sexual innocence struck me as very familiar - the physically mature woman who knows nothing about sex - but I couldn't figure out where I'd seen it before.

Then it hit me: it was a stock gimmick in 50's sci-fi cheesecake films like "Cat Women On The Moon" and "Queen of Outer Space" where there's a whole planet of hot 50's babes in short skirts and high heels who'd never seen a man before and didn't know what "kissing" was.

So that's what I'd do - make your girl a space alien or a time traveler.

Unless, of course, you want your story to be "realistic", in which case I think you're going to have to invent some weird mental disorder - a mental block or something.

That will be a quite an accessible protagonist, the pedophile that wants to have sex with a devopmentally disabled character. Good luck with that.
