Memorial Day 2019

1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act,
which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May
in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees;
the change went into effect in 1971.

The same law also declared Memorial Day a federal holiday.

America and her soldiers.

Come July 4th, we will celebrate the soldiers that freed
America from the King from another country.
Why would we dishonor them, by replacing
an English King with a Russian King ?

Civil War

The war that split America apart, and continues to do so, today.

Many died, some to support slavery, some to fight slavery.

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's Red Poppy flower

The First World War

May 24, 2019

National American Legion voted to use the poppy as the
official U.S. national emblem of remembrance when its
members convened in Cleveland in September 1920.

Americans don’t typically wear poppies on November 11
(Veterans Day), which honors all living veterans. Instead,
they wear the symbolic red flower on Memorial Day—
the last Monday in May—to commemorate the sacrifice
of so many men and women who have given their lives
fighting for their country.

The little ancient old people, that honored their fallen comrades
of WWI, seem to have all died. Their uniforms stay in the lockers
and trunks.

Their ghosts visit the monument, and salute.

American soldiers of WW II

May 25, 2019

A World War II soldier from Montana who died on an island
in the Pacific Ocean 75 years ago has been buried in his home
state after his remains were identified last year.

A memorial and funeral with full military honors was held
Saturday in Bozeman for Army Pvt. William A. Boegli,
who was raised in Sedan, Montana.

He was killed while leading a group of litter bearers to
evacuate wounded soldiers in the 1944 invasion of
Angaur Island.

Boegli died in 1944, at age 25

More 100 year old men and women that survived
a Great War, are alive today. Fallen comrades to
salute, at the monument.

It did not end.

So many more monuments to people who died at war.
Even to this day, a town reports a loss. Men and women
mourn their fallen comrades.

Sometimes I visit the American cemetery at Point Du Hoc in Normandy to say thank you for the Americans who died to liberate Europe. Although that is the cemetery for those who died in the Normandy campaign, I also remember those who died for freedom elsewhere in Europe, in the Pacific, and SE Asia.

We Brits remember our war dead in November but we also owe a debt to the US troops too.

I have visited several American Cemeteries, Arlington, Manila, several from our Civil war, and the Punchbowl in Honolulu. I was part of an Honour Guard and fired the salute to an young trooper somewhere in 'bum fuck' Virginia.

Part of the awful price that America has paid to keep the Union.

Cadet Bone Spurs on the other hand wouldn't visit one because it was misting and it would have messed up his dead ferret.

You just can't help yourself. You almost got through it.Take out the last part and it works to those who have fallen protecting our freedom.

Funny how he's conveniently out of the country saying North Korea launching missiles isn't a big deal, that Kim is really a good guy.

Can't this thread be about remembering the fallen members of the military. I thought that what it was about.

You've got many other threads to bash Trump but it shouldn't be on this one.

Trump and Melania went to Arlington Cemetery for tombstone flag decoration the day before he left for Japan.

Trump and Melania went to Arlington Cemetery

May 23, 2019

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) —Thursday (Trumpypants and Malania) placed American flags at several gravesites
during an early Memorial Day visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

Presidents typically lay a wreath and deliver remarks at the cemetery on Monday, which
is Memorial Day, but Trumpants fucked off on an international junket.

There are real issues to go after Trump for. Blaming international travel that's hard to set up is a bit of overkill. Let's get real. He didn't set up a trip to Japan to avoid Memorial Day ceremonies in the States.

Fortunate Son
Creedence Clearwater Revival

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, one

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no no no

US Army Twitter account question highlights toll of America’s wars on Memorial Day

Days ahead of an annual holiday when Americans remember those who died while serving in the armed forces, the US Army’s Twitter account asked people how their time in the military affected them and received an outpouring of grief.

The question drew some 10,000 replies since it was posted late last week — many of which were anonymous or included details that could not be independently confirmed, but which paint a harrowing picture of the toll America’s wars have taken on those who fought them.

Hear from the Troops who expanded Freedom's borders.

KeithD, When you bitch about Copyright for posting on a free porn board it exposes what working for the CIA does to rational folks. I'd pray for you, but there is no God who cares.

Tilt. It exposes the "it's all about me" of writers who bitch about their work being stolen but have no qualms about turning around and stealing the work of other writers. It pretty much exposes folks who aren't real writers.

It's interesting that you claim that you know what God cares about.

Saw a sign posted to FB this Memorial Day:

"If you wish to thank a soldier be the kind of American worth fighting for."

Sorry, Trumpettes here. You and Bone Spurs Trump don't make this cut.

Leave it to the left to turn Memorial Day into a TDS induced circle jerk.

Memorial Day is the day every year when ADULTS honor and respect the REAL men and women who died for your sins. The ones who had the courage to take a personal RESPONSIBILITY for the protection of the rights you so boldly abuse and the freedom that you enjoy but despise.

It is a day when we recognize the efforts of those far better than ourselves, and thank them for it.

Yes, I visit at least one cemetery every Memorial Day. They deserve to be remembered with something more than Brats and beer.

Another location, another Trump TV Show Extravaganza

Garbage in, garbage out. Anything to keep the newsfeed flowing.

Here it is, May 30th and Feckless Cunt the Goon is still talking about it.

Japan provided the stage, Trump brought the drama.

Feckless Cunt #1 Goon used the opportunity to punch Japan in the nose.

FC #1 Goon exploited the situation and attacked Joe Biden.

One tiny problem.

FC #1 Goon could be triggered into attacking John McCain.*

On Memorial Day that would not be good publicity.

2019-05-28 Trump aboard the USS Wasp w/Mal-ania

The big, bad, USS John S. McCain as present in Japan.

The warship, was commissioned in 1994, was originally
named for the senator's father and grandfather, both
Navy admirals named John Sidney McCain.
Last year, the Navy rededicated the ship to
honor the senator as well.

The Emails! Do they exist ?

Someone had to interact with the WH about the USS Wasp.
Trump was there to see ships and sailors.

With Rupert Murdoch involved, the public will never know what happened.
Many are willing to lie for FC #1 Goon.

*In 2015, McCain, a Republican senator from Arizona,
had gotten under then-candidate Trump's skin by saying
he had "fired up the crazies" at a rally in Phoenix. Trump,
also a Republican, later told a crowd in Iowa that McCain
was only a war hero "because he was captured."
"I like people who weren't captured."

http://my.chicagotribune.com/#sectio...p2p-116722901/

*Before appearing on the USS Wasp, Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited a Japanese destroyer, the J.S. Kaga, docked nearby. Standing alongside Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Trump delivered the same “happy Memorial Day” message to the Japanese forces.

*Trump’s helicopter trips to both ships capped his four-day state visit to Japan. He became the first head of state to meet Japan’s new emperor, Naruhito, since his May 1 ascension to the throne.
