1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act,
which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May
in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees;
the change went into effect in 1971.
The same law also declared Memorial Day a federal holiday.
America and her soldiers.
Come July 4th, we will celebrate the soldiers that freed
America from the King from another country.
Why would we dishonor them, by replacing
an English King with a Russian King ?
Civil War
The war that split America apart, and continues to do so, today.
Many died, some to support slavery, some to fight slavery.

National American Legion voted to use the poppy as the
official U.S. national emblem of remembrance when its
members convened in Cleveland in September 1920.
Americans don’t typically wear poppies on November 11
(Veterans Day), which honors all living veterans. Instead,
they wear the symbolic red flower on Memorial Day—
the last Monday in May—to commemorate the sacrifice
of so many men and women who have given their lives
fighting for their country.

The little ancient old people, that honored their fallen comrades
of WWI, seem to have all died. Their uniforms stay in the lockers
and trunks.
Their ghosts visit the monument, and salute.

A World War II soldier from Montana who died on an island
in the Pacific Ocean 75 years ago has been buried in his home
state after his remains were identified last year.
A memorial and funeral with full military honors was held
Saturday in Bozeman for Army Pvt. William A. Boegli,
who was raised in Sedan, Montana.
He was killed while leading a group of litter bearers to
evacuate wounded soldiers in the 1944 invasion of
Angaur Island.
Boegli died in 1944, at age 25

More 100 year old men and women that survived
a Great War, are alive today. Fallen comrades to
salute, at the monument.
It did not end.
So many more monuments to people who died at war.
Even to this day, a town reports a loss. Men and women
mourn their fallen comrades.
