OOC: this is a closed thread for missla and chanaud

IC: Bailey Walker, 5'7", 125 lbs., shoulder length auburn hair, big blue eyes

I got out of the shuttle and walked into the lobby of the hotel - it looked absolutely beautiful, with all the marble and greenery and fans - a perfect setting. I had recently broken up with my significant other - it seemed like relationships were so hard to keep going any more. Everytime you thought you had something good, there would be a roadblock of some sort, and you were back at square one.

After the latest one, I decided that I needed a vacation....all by myself. I hadn't been to Mexico in a while, and as I was checking out the trips, I remembered that a new Margaritaville Cafe was due to open in Cancun. Being a serious Jimmy Buffett fan, I knew that this was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I checked on the opening, and then booked my trip, hardly being able to wait until the time came to leave. This would be a great trip, just me and myself, being able to do what I wanted to without having to worry about anyone else.

I checked in and the bellman took me up to my room. It was on the 5th floor, one from the top, and as we entered it, I was thrillled to see that my request for a room overlooking the ocean was granted. I tipped him and he left, and I opened the balcony door and stepped out into the warm sunshine. Wow - what a view!! It overlooked the entire grounds, with the pool area being just below. It wasn't that crowded around the pool, and I was glad to see that about half of the females there were topless. I was definitely looking forward to getting some sun on the body - the great part being that you don't have to worry what people think when you are in Mexico - have fun and do what you want. And since this was an all-inclusive resort, all the drinks were already paid for - a super-plus !!

I stepped back inside and noticed the jacuzzi that was in the corner of the room - that would be great to get in at night to relax, and let the moon shine in - ok, time to start having fun!! I took off my traveling clothes of shorts and polo, and after hanging up my clothes, slipped on a light sundress and decided that it was time for the first margarita. I went back downstairs, and headed toward the first bar I could find, it being situated just outside the lobby, and affording a great view of the pool and the ocean - PERFECT !!

I sat at one of the stools at the bar and the bartender moved toward me. "What is it for you, my pretty senorita?" I blushed slightly at the compliment, but then quickly replied, "Margarita, please, and make it a good one. The first drink on vacation is always the most important one." He laughed and moved to the blender to prepare it. It wasn't long until he walked back over and set the glass in front of me. I picked it up and took a long sip - oh, it was good !! He smiled at me and said, "You like, si ?"

"Si, I like very much," I replied. "My name is Carlos," he said. "Let me know when you need another."

I nodded to him and as I took another sip, began to take in the surroundings. I LOVE THE BEACH !!! This was going to be so much fun - just me, and not a care in the world.

As I looked around, I noticed a young lady also sitting at the bar a few seats down also drinking a margarita, and it looked as if she had been crying. I turned my attention away from her, but couldn't help thinking what was causing her to cry - after all, what could be bad about being on a beach in Mexico. I continued watching her, and noticed her brush away another tear. I don't like nosing into anybody's business, but I hated to see someone feel bad.

I took a big sip of my drink and then stood and walked over to where she was sitting. "Excuse me," I said. "I hope you don't think I am being nosy, but is there something wrong ?"

OOC: It's been far too long since we played, babe. Thanks for starting this thread.

Everywhere I turn, everywhere I look, something or someone reminded me of Gregory. When Carlos, the bartender brought out my Mango Margarita, tears welled up in my eyes. I couldn’t help it. It was the first drink Gregory bought for me when we first met.

Gregory.

What did I ever do to him? How could he? Who is she? When did this happen? Unanswered questions swam in my head as I tried desperately to control the waterfall from streaming down my face.

This was to be our celebratory engagement vacation. We had a perfect relationship. Two blissful years of dating, Gregory surprised me by getting down on his knees while we were picnicking in the park. He didn’t have a ring picked out then. It was spontaneous. He proclaimed I was his other half, his soul mate, his love. And we shouldn’t wait any longer. We had to move forward, and the next step was to make us legal, we had to be as “one”. Of course, I agreed wholeheartedly. He was everything I wanted in a man. And we got along splendidly, we hardly fought. We were perfect for each other.

He surprised me further by booking this trip. He wanted us to have this last vacation as singles before the wedding plans started. Of course, I was looking forward to this trip. Who wouldn’t? A week in the sun with the love of my life sounded heavenly.

Our flight was scheduled right after work so we had arranged to meet at the airport. I waited. And waited. And waited. No Gregory. When the flight attendants paged my aisle to board, my phone rang. It was Gregory. He can’t make it. He’s not going with me. He’s in love with someone else. He told me to go anyway, and he will explain it all when I return.

Stunned, I followed his orders blindly. The flight was a blur. The four Bloody Mary’s helped. I was fine until I saw our suite. It’s too big for just me. It’s made for two. I broke down. The bellhop saw my eyes and took instant action.

“Senorita will feel better in the sun. The sun will cure your aching heart.” He mumbled. He guided me downstairs, and ordered a Mango Margarita. He said I was sweet and ripe like the luscious fruit. Even through my swollen eyes, I can see he was talking to my breasts.

The water was calming. The sun’s reflection formed tiny, dancing stars. It twinkled brightly, blinding my eyes, numbing my senses. It hypnotized me. Then a sweet voice, like an angel’s broke me from my revelry.

“"Excuse me, I hope you don't think I am being nosy, but is there something wrong?"

My face turned towards the voice. The bright sun blinded me, so I couldn’t see the face the voice had belong to.

“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you.” I mumbled.

Control yourself! I scolded silently. Ashamed of creating such a spectacle of myself, I picked up a magazine, not realizing I was holding it upside down. After a few short seconds, my eyes dared to sneak a peak. From the corners of my eye, she laid there wearing just a scant of a red bikini, and drinking a Margarita similar to mine. She caught me looking. She winked and gave me a wide smile.

“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you," she mumbled.

I could see quite clearly that she was indeed not fine. "Look," I said, "again, I don't want to pry, but nobody comes to Mexico to sit at the bar and cry. Is there anything I can do?"

She looked up at me and before she could respond, I said, "I'm sorry, you probably want to be alone - just forget that I ever came over."

I walked the few steps back over to the stool where I was sitting before and sat back down. How stupid of me to try to get into someone else's business - I hate people who did that, and I had just done it. "OK, Bailey, you are here to have fun, and not worry about anything else." Carlos the bartender came back over and before he could ask, I grinned at him and pointed to my glass.

"One more, please," and he went to make me another margarita. I glanced back over at the girl I had been talking to, and caught her looking over at me. She looked away quickly, and as she glanced back at me, I smiled at her and winked.

Maybe she would loosen up after all...
