Okay. Question for all you worldly travelers out there:

What the hell is there to do in St. Louis, Missouri?

As I mentioned somewhere else, I have recently (thanks to the ex-boyfriend who sends me money and weaponry) found myself to be the rather reluctant recipient of an all-expense-paid trip there in a few weeks.

Problem is twofold: One, he asked me what I wanted to do while I was there. I have NO fucking clue.

Two, since the trip is wednesday through sunday, I get to try to figure out how the hell to amuse myself during the day on thursday and friday while he's in class.

Help? And don't tell me to go see the arch. :)

Ask Havoc.

My god he lives close enough doesn't he. Why don't you tell your "Friend" that you want to go visit a male friend from a porn site LOL ... you never know it might go down well ... then again maybe not. And you do know that Havoc wouldn't say no right. :D

St. Louis has a good zoo and I only live about 6 hours away! ;) My mother's corporate headquarters use to be there and there are lots of things to do. Safety Tip: Don't get lost in East St. Louis!

Weaponry?

For Saint Louis you need the weaponry

Union Station, nice nice shopping center
Six Flags
The arch
lots of museums and stuff

The French Quarter

The best jazz clubs and bars in the world

Vinyl Records

Moules Marinieres and all other things french and tasty

I've never been but it is the one american city I'd most like to visit along with New Orleans.

Laurel-- Yes, weaponry. I don't understand it either. First he sends me $200 to pay for my books here at college (since he can't be around to carry them for me, I guess), then he sent me a beautiful flamberge dagger that he bought in Germany. Now it's a plane ticket, and he swears his reasons are purely platonic.

Better hurry. A new report yesterday estimates that New Orleans will be underwater in 50 years. Already 70% of the city is below sea level. The town is virtually a city within a bowl of levees. Marshland the size of a football field is lost to the sea every fifteen minutes, and marshland is the only thing saving the city from utter destruction from a hurricane, which is likely to happen before the 50 years are up.

St. Louis, too, is losing a battle to the Mississippi, though it should around a lot longer. Have a good time Endlessly, though I suspect the arch tells you a lot about the town. It was erected to celebrate St. Louis' position as the Gateway to the West, which means the most important landmark in St. Louis is about what a great place it is to leave.

Get a spa treatment at Sage Cosmetics....very very good stuff! I'm also thinking they have a good children's museum...but don't know for sure.

Wow, for once, I have to say : You're right.

Personally, I think if you have to go a big city in the midwest, go to Chicago. So much more to do.

THINK BIG!!!!!!

Forget the small stuff, there is no city like new york city.
We have more museums, restaurants,
fine shops and wackos then the rest of the good old USA combined.
If it isn't here it's nowhere.
Guess where l live???
We also have beaches, with real waves.

hehehehehe :D

*do I agree, or not?* LOL

To avoid self incrimination, I'll abstain from agreeing, or disagreeing!

????????????????????????

Tess, where do you come from besides fantasyland???
Don't tell me Disneyland.

hmmmmmmmm, LOL. ummmmmmmm, sorry, not fantasyland, or Disneyland. East Central Illinois, home of corn fields, soy beans, and way to many people trying to pretend they aren't hicks.

Oh, and just an FYI, that last post was in respone to the one before your's, posted by dreamer1. :)

The St. Louis Zoo is two things - awfully damn hot and free. Go early in the morning or you will absolutely get cooked by the midwest heat (the monkey house is abominable by late afternoon).

The Arch is fun to go up in the elevator (although the truly claustrophobic should avoid) and walk around in and feel the structure swaying back and forth in the breeze.

St. Charles, Mo, to the northwest is pretty neat to wander around and hit the old shops along the river. Lots of wood crafts and art and at least two places that sell homemade ice cream (yum!) :)

There are a number of boats (paddlewheelers, sternwheelers, etc.) parked on the river that have restaurants and nightclubs. The McDonald's Barge is an eyesore and counter to the experience.

Definitely heed the advice to stay west of the Mississippi, East St. Louis is not a place to be caught dead in.

*LOL* If I got to choose the place, it wouldn't be St. Louis. So if anyone ELSE wants to offer me an all-expense-paid trip to Chicago or NYC, feel free. But the ticket I didn't have to pay for gets me to Missouri. :D

Actually, I'll be staying with the guy at St. Louis Missouri.. A lovely campus, but I've been warned to not go out of a block radius alone, even in broad daylight.

WHERE????????

Tess, are you kidding me, l never heard of east central illinois.
Is it in america?

LMAO. It's just the general area I'm in. DO you think I'd tell you my street address? LOL sorry, but no. :) Yes, it's in america, LOL. You'll just have to trust me. :)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I finally lost that damn virgin status!
OK, just had to share that! LOL

Sorry, BYE! :p

St. Louis also has a terrific botanical garden, if you're into that kind of stuff. I'd give you the name, but for the life of me, can't remember it right now.

Missouri Botanical Gardens is really great for water gardeners (a particular fascination). You can see several of the really ornate lilies from Africa for another week or so before they begin to go dormant. I have pond envy - my tropical lilies didn't bloom this year due to an odd cold snap in June.

The gardens also have a lot of terrestrial plants if you are not a water gardener. The biggest problems is resisting the urge to dig up something and take it home.

CONGRATS!!!!

Tess1, you made it to the next level, now slow down before you pass me.

I went to St Louis once when I was a teen, the nightlife isn't too bad, but I would take a good book along if I were you.
