Yes I am typing this on my new little, lovely laptop named Lola.

She arrived and she was Lola.

My mum's car is called Mo Mo.

My Dad's first car was called Vera.

my husband's computer is called Kasumi.

Do you give inanimate objects names and if so what are they?

Or are me and my family just mental? ;)

If you network your computers, you have to give them a name.

I assigned the task of choosing a theme to my son years ago, and he came up with a doozy. We now have the next several computers already named.

Get LoLo a Wifi card, and your broadband an access point, and you can post from anywhere in the house.

I love my laptop with a rare and abiding passion.

His name is Horatio.

ted -Lola will be Wi-Fi -ed as soon as her card turns up....then i can take you all to bed with me at night ;)

*Lola beeps and flashes at Horatio*

I am glad I'm in good Company Black Shanglan :)

Hm. Names are one thing.

Would Freud have a field day with you people, assigning genders to inanimate objects?

*LOL*

Ahh good point! Lola is such a girl though. She just is *L*

My car is Ollie. Don't know what Freudian significance that has; Everyone I know names their car a female name and mine's a guy.

I remember my father's 2CV from years and years and years ago was called Angina, cause of the stress he got from its constant breakages.

I have to say that Freud would probably have more fun with the prospect of a person who assigns a gender to their laptop, but refuses to assign one to themselves.

Mind you Freud talked out of his arse.

*chuckles* Well my sister named her last car "chicken" so yeah. I think thats more worrying than you having a male car really*L*

And I love the name "Angina" brilliant!

Mad! I love it! Vera!!! LOL!! :D

No names for my inanimate objects. Unless you count dildos, that is.

*grin* I like that one, Earl.

I think the genders come because most names are gendered. Mind you, the pets all have relatively gender-free names, but this is because I was raised by someone who feels it is rude to give an animal a human name. Actually I rather like it because it gives the animals their own special feel.

My car is called Mildred. All the little toys inside have a name to and they all begin with M. Don't ask me why, they just do!

Strangely enough, my laptop is one of the few inanimate object I own that doesn't have a name, havn't gotten around to that yet!

Elsie :rose:

xxx

Elsie. I won't ask ;)

I think most of the teddies in this house have names and even the vacuum is known as "the hoover monster"

*L*

My first car was a poor little unloved misunderstood Yugo named Fancy.

But I don't name my comuter (or my lingeree, lol)

If I owned a house I would definatly name it.

I owned a Metro once called Hewy, but that was only cos that made up part of the number plate.

My current car I call Mondy. It's a Ford Mondeo. I'm imaginative I am.

The pig

my car is known as the pig, because it is a swine.

inside it is a pigsty. but the wife gets the credit for that.

Oh sweetie, no one admits to owning a Yugo.:rose:

I have a hard enough time giving living things names! I've had a hamster called Hamster, a guinea pig called Guinea Pig, a rabbit called Rabbit, and a fish... wait for it... called Fishie :D

Some of my dogs have human names. Sierra, Scarlett and Eli. And then there's King but he's a junior. :) I call them all Biscuit though.

Interesting. I've named cars, computers, animals, and a butterfly knife, but it never occured to me to name my house. I guess because to me it's sort of omnipresent.
