"Troop drop in 10 seconds" the automated voice said over the assault shuttles speakers. The 110th Marine Battalion of the 2nd fleet assault division Had made Orbit around the Planet Medusa 16 hours ago and had as yet even bothered to launch a orbital bombardment to soften the ground defenses. Liam straps into his chair, across the aisle is his friend and CO Kyle. Then he gazes down the aisle at the men and women in full battle gear. He sees one of the assault shuttles blow apart as an enemy planetary gun scores a direct hit on it and watches his fellow marines spill out and plummet to their deaths as the atmosphiric friction incinerates them.
