I've had a migraine for two days.

Now all of the sudden I feel like my head is on fire. It feels like someone has injected acid into my skull.

What could it be?

It could be anything from allergies to a simple headache.

Your best bet is to seek medical attention (if nothing helps relieve it. Try taking aspirin, tylenol or ibuprofen.. putting ice or heat on your head.. and sleeping in as dark as room as possible)

Anurism, blood leaking into your skull, strictly a non-medical call here. Get to a doctor, ex had one 6 months ago.

Darlin, I am not doctor. But, are you sure you had a migraine. Cluster headaches often behin with a burning sensation.
You should see a doctor.

I finally got migraine meds today (I've had no money to buy them prior to now) And I took them. Same one I've been on for quite some time. I've had benadryl as well.

koala, that is scarey... Perhaps I should call the ER

I'm a big advocate for non medicated cures. I've had migraines since I was 5 years old and my mom told me to run cold water from the tap over the back of my neck. I'd say this works for me 8 out of 10 times. Try it you'd like or just lie in a quiet, dark room with a cool washcloth over your eyes. If it's not better by morning or gets worse overnight, get to a doctor.

Just the truth, any headache for 2 days and no let up should be checked out. Better safe then sorry.

Wait

You are diagnosed with migraines? and you started a new med today? or you restarted an old med again today? How long as it been since you last took your meds?

What medication is it.. how long have you been taking it?

ugh.. do you have a IM that we can talk on? MSN, Yahoo, AOL?

I pinched a nerve in my spine that resulted in the worst five day headache of my life. I had been lifting weights earlier that day, and something just snapped. It started out with a throbbing headache, and graduated to naseua, dizziness, and more pain than I thought I could endure without severing a limb. I went to the ER, and after two spinal taps and an MRI, they gave me a muscle relaxant and a pain reliever. It still took a couple more days to fully recover.

So go to the ER. It could be something serious.

Anxiety and tension may only make you feel worse. So, just to be safe, call the ER.

I understand.. but damn have some tact ;) Anurism is a scarey word..

Umm... yes.. the Aneurism comment made my heart skip a beat.

Ummm.. Same medicine, I had just been without for a few days.

It's called Zomig.

I'm hesitant to go to the ER because I've been unemployed and have no insurance. I live in Austin and with all the dot.com failures there is no work available.

Do you have any urgent care facilities?
They tend to be less costly than the ER. You could always call and speak with a nurse and see what's said?

Being a nurse and an ER nurse for a number of years, I think you're gonna have to buck up and just go to the ER.

Headaches can be caused by a plethora of reasons. But any place you call, anyone whom you speak to will probably say the same thing: You can't treat what you can't see. Besides, there is too much liability to give much advice over the phone.

I'm not familiar with zomig, so I can't comment on that drug. I do think it would be worth your while to go and see what the doc has to say. It might be a CT of the head, at lumbar tap or maybe just a shot of demerol and phenergan. I'm not sure how they handle those emergencies there....but I do think it's in your best interest to go.

If it costs you some money, better safe than sorry. Seriously... GO to the ER.

Dusty, my love?

Git yer ass to Brackenridge. They'll enroll you in the MAP program. Do it. Tomorrow if not tonight. Got it? *glares*

Yes Nora, I will do that tomorrow.

I took a cold shower and another Zomig and laid down for a bit in the dark and talked to Jen. The burning has stopped but the migraine is still there *sighs* But I can deal with that much till tomorrow.
I had called Breckenridge and they said that as long as the burning is gone I can put it off till tomorrow, unless I get other symptoms.

Thank you all, I took bits and pieces of many people's advice.

*big hug*

g'night Dusty =) Lemme know how it all turns out for you, ok?

I have a script for Vicodin, but I don't like taking medications in the first place. Especially stuff like that. I have yet to get it filled and it was written a long time ago lol.

I will go get seen tomorrow though. I just took a phenergan since I am going to bed.
