US media see resurgence after years of downward spiral as Trump attacks ‘dishonest’ press

As President Donald Trump steps up his attacks on the “dishonest” press, major American media outlets are seeing an apparent resurgence after years of downward spiral.

Newspapers, radio and television had begun to see growth during the 2016 election campaign, and that has accelerated since the inauguration, despite — or perhaps because of — the vitriol from the new president and his aides.

While much of the industry has been slumping in recent years, the war between the president and the news media has seemingly drawn in a flood of new readers, listeners and viewers, including many willing to pay for news.

CNN viewership rose a stunning 94 percent during the week of Trump’s inauguration in January, even as the president assailed the cable news operator as a purveyor of “fake news.”

The New York Times announced this week it added nearly 300,000 paid digital subscribers in the fourth quarter of last year, the highest number since it began its paywall model.

Amazing what happens when they start being journalists again after decades of reprinting propaganda releases. Soon they may start critical thinking!

Mainstream media always has a lefty bent. Just like most people. Not surprising they were not as critical of the Obama admin. as they could have been or should have been. Problem is if they go a bit overboard on Trump. He has enough critical deficiencies that picking nits about some things will just make the mainstream press come across as juvenile.

The press has become 'less critical' since at least the Regan Admin. and declined ever since. Trump's blunders are not 'nits' but full on violations of the law, the press should be crucifying him every day.

Just like most college-educated people. And journalism is an inherently lefty business to the extent it involves playing Jack-the-Giant-Killer -- whether the giant be a corporate CEO or a labor union leader.

OTOH, journalists are usually not their own masters; they answer to editors in eyeshades, who answer to MBAs in suits, who despite their education are not a liberal lot.

‘This guy is a fraud’: Bernie Sanders blasts Trump for selling out voters to help Wall Street

Now CNN is having Bernie on to spread a little truth after KAC tripped over her own lips.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Sunday accused President Donald Trump of perpetrating a “fraud” on American voters by cozying up to Wall Street bankers instead of keeping his campaign promises.

While meeting with the JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon on Friday, Trump railed against Dodd-Frank financial regulations that were put into place after the economic collapse of 2008.

“It is hard not to laugh to see President Trump alongside these Wall Street guys,” Sanders told CNN host Jake Tapper on Sunday. “I have to say this, Jake, and I don’t mean to be disrespectful. This guy is a fraud.”

“This guy ran for president of the United States and said, ‘I, Donald Trump, I’m going to take on Wall Street, these guys are getting away with murder.’ And then suddenly he appoints all these Wall Street billionaires, his major financial adviser comes from Goldman Sachs and now he’s going to dismantle legislation that protects consumers.”

CNN refused to have Kelly Ann Con Job on this weekend, and I noticed their front page was loaded with bad news for Trump. I wonder if they're "going rogue"

Really only been 8 years.

Soon they may start critical thinking!

They will achieve it just as a (D) takes office and they shut down for more propaganda production. Cover the new (D)'s peace prize and ignore the continued bombings in the middle east that will IMMEDIATELY cease to be an issue the very second a (D) takes office.

Morning Joe rips Spicer for demanding agreement on Yemen raid: ‘These are the words of autocrats’

The hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” expressed bewilderment over the White House press secretary’s insistence that a raid in Yemen should be called a success.

The raid, which President Donald Trump reportedly approved over dinner and without a full briefing, left a Navy SEAL dead and may have strained relations with a partner in the war on terror, and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) questioned White House assertions of its success.

Success is measured by the achievement of the objectives and weighing the costs.

It takes a lot of 'Actionable Intelligence' to out balance out the $70 Million dollar loss of a Osprey, one killed, three wounded, plus the cost to pull off the raid in the first place. Not to mention the loss of many women and children, the loss of cooperation of Yemen and inciting many more Yemenis to take up the fight against the Great Satan.

“It’s dangerous language when you say that somebody has betrayed America because they don’t interpret your version of law the way you want them to, or when you call court decision outrageous,” Scarborough said. “These are the words of autocrats.”

Bill Moyers: CNN inviting Kellyanne Conway back is a ‘blow to its own credibility’

Well, I certainly got that one wrong.

Based on news reports, and after two phone calls to check them out, on Tuesday I wrote a column saluting Jake Tapper and CNN for saying, “No!” to Kellyanne Conway when the White House offered her up as a guest for Tapper’s Sunday program. Except for Fox and Breitbart, I said, no news organization had been more useful to Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy than CNN, but now it appeared they were fed up with serving as a springboard for the lies tossed around like grenades by Trump’s propaganda minions — most notably Ms. Conway, the president’s senior adviser who doubles, I pointed out (with apologies to my late Baptist deacon father for the language) as the administration’s official Queen of Bullshit.

Standing up to her took some guts from Tapper and his network, given the fear and loathing Trump directs at journalists who dare exert some First Amendment independence, and I said so in the column:

Why is anyone in the press covering KaC's bullshit? Is CNN so strapped for something to fill the space that they bypass cute Kitten pix for the Queen of Bullshit?

CNN’s change of heart Tuesday was a blow to its own credibility, and a disappointment to many hoping for greater courage among the media. My own cheering was premature; I have to take it back. Hereafter, I will keep in mind Charles Dickens’ counsel not to trust flat things coming round.

Compendium of Not News strikes out again.

"The partisan split on this topic is clear – 89 percent of Republicans find the Trump administration truthful, versus 77 percent of Democrats who find the administration untruthful. Conversely, 69 percent of Democrats find the news media truthful, while a whopping 91 percent of Republicans consider them untruthful. Independents consider both untruthful,"

I don't see how you can understand this except full on 1984.

Sam Bee hilariously congratulates CNN for ‘surprising us’ with actual news ‘for almost half a day

Sam Bee on Wednesday thanked CNN for its airing of a contentious interview between host Jake Tapper and Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, as well as a comprehensive healthcare debate between ideological counterparts Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz, proclaiming she couldn’t believe the network served “the public interest for almost half a day!”

“CNN had a good day!” Bee exclaimed on this week’s Full Frontal with Sam Bee. “I know we couldn’t believe it either!”

“Damn Jake!” Bee said of the Conway interview, joking that CNN let Tapper “out of his cage” and “haven’t fed him this week.”

White men have been complaining since time began about the minorities bitching about being oppressed. NOw that their own power is finally being threatened, they're pulling a full on mass shooting of the whole world. Everything has to go. Like those men who take out their whole family when their wife finally decides to leave. Nope, not gonna happen. If reality says otherwise, reality has to go = TRUMP.
