The noble House Marchetti had held a sizeable holding on the world of Le Blanc in the Federated Suns Draconis March. Generations of the Marchetti family had protected the world from the attentions of House Kurita and border pirates, earning a reputation as loyal and proud servants to House Davion. Tonya "Princess" Marchetti was the youngest daughter of the family and recently entered officer training in the AFFS (Armed Forces of the Federated Suns) as she showed leadership qualities. Unfortunately the family fortunes took a dramatic change a short while ago.
In late June 3028 word reached Tonya when she was on a training exercise on the world of Layover with the 3rd Draconis Guards that her uncle, Duke Ronan DeValle had seized the family estates and taken over their lands and assets having employed a mercenary force to overpower their house forces. By the time Tonya had secured passage back to Le Blanc, the Fourth Succession War had began and the AFFS had no resources to help her re-take House Marchetti lands. It was all she could do it liquidate the families off world assets and call in some favours with surviving family contacts to purchase passage off Le Banc with a newly acquired GHR-5H Grasshopper.
Travelling to the district capital of Robinson, Tonya sought employ with a mercenary company and interviewed with a couple of units with contracts along the Davion-Kurita border. Turning down the Waco Rangers and Wilson's Hussars, she eventually signed on with a relatively new company called McAllister's Marauders. They only had eight Mechs, but their Union class DropShip meant they had room to expand to a full company of twelve and currently had room for plenty spares and a recon unit.
Tonya joined the heavy lance, led by Captain Ryan McAllister himself in his Thunderbolt along with (his partner?) Juno Templar in her Orion and Maxim Rogers in his Rifleman.
The second, scouting lance was headed by Rita Jorgensen in her Phoenix Hawk, along with the Valkyrie of Dani Chavez, Martin Dale in his Javelin and the Spider of Karl Kristoph.
Each Mech has it's own tech and there is a squad of infantry too, along with a VTOL taking up one of the spare bays in the DropShip - the Void Runner is an old but sturdy looking Union Class ship, ran by the experienced Captain James Cook and his crew. You have only been with the unit a few weeks when they sign a contract to garrison a world on the border, Fairfield. From there Captain McAllister has been authorised to take on further raiding contracts to boost the company's payout.

+Okay ladies and gents, we're a few hours from planetfall so strap everything down and buckle up.+
The intercom crackles off and the ship's crew go from busy to frantic as they move about the cargo and Mech bays making sure nothing is loose for when the Void Runner hits the atmosphere. The soldiers and pilots all move to their bunks and strap in, leaving the techs to do what they need to in order that nobody gets hit by a wrench flying around the inside of the ship.
The Mech pilots shared cramped bunk rooms organised by lance, so Tonya was in the stale smelling, artificially illuminated narrow room along with Captain Ryan McAllister, Juno Templar and Maxim Rogers. Along with the narrow, metal framed bunks the only other furniture was a small table and seat that folded up against the wall when not in use.
Ryan flicked a switch on the wall by his bunk, activating the ship wide comms. +Okay MechWarriors, strap in for the ride and make sure you are all ready to roll out as soon as we get the all clear from Captain Cook. Parade ground precision, just like we practiced. I want to make a good impression on our employers at the AFFS.+
The techs had spent the last few days on Robinson spraying the Mechs a royal blue with white piping; parade colours for their arrival on Fairfield. The planetary government used similar colours as their livery and McAllister thought the gesture of solidarity would be appreciated. The unit's crest of a white skull and crossed swords may not have however, so this was added as a discrete detail on the rear of each Mech's left shoulder as opposed to it's usual larger icon.
+Rita, your lance will form up first and we will follow before we line up. I'm lead to believe the capital city's mayor is greeting us so I want everyone on their best behaviour.+ Ryan added before flicking off the intercom and checking his wrist chrono.
"Not long now. I have to say, while I don't mind jumping from system to system, I've never really enjoyed falling to earth in a tin can of a DropShip, how about you guys?" The bearded veteran confessed, tightening his strapping as he lay on the top bunk above Juno.
"You know me Cap' I'm all for adrenaline." Juno replied, her voice full of excitement. The short, slim female Mech pilot lay on her bunk, her wavy hair spread out on the bunk around her head. "Give me a combat drop over a parade ground any day." She said, turning to wink at Tonya on the other lower bunk. "I need my fix daily."
Maxim cleared his throat on the top bunk across from the commanding officer. "I'm okay with it, though I have to say, I prefer an aerodyne DropShip - don't tell Cook - it's just a little more reassuring to be in the sky in something with some kind of wings you know?" He said, sounding a little nervous.
"How about you Princess?" Maxim asked, waving his hand over the edge of the bunk to get Tonya's attention.
