Meaning of the Collar

LOL! I was wondering if/when you'd weigh in.

Back to the OP though..I don't wear one, doubt I ever will outside of play. I used to think wearing a collar was a big deal and oh so romantic. Now though, I really couldn't care less. The symbolism is lovely when it is used as a token of a truly committed relationship..but that oftentimes does not seem to be the case.

I'm only kidding here, folks.

Well.......

sort of! ;)

depending on teh setting she's either wearing her collar, or her cuff... Both of which fit in amongst her otehr jewelry so well she could prolly wear both at once, adn no-one would give either a second glance.

I had a beaded choker that I wore when I was with my ex.

I was very self conscious of it and found wearing it awkward.

Andante bought me a simple chain mail necklace for one of my birthdays.
I wear it all the time we are apart, although I do take it off if I want to wear a different necklace. He has never insisted I have to wear it all the time, in fact he often says I don't have to.

We discussed collars sometime ago and agreed at that time we didn't see it as necessary, we know he owns me.

Recently I found a beautiful garnet and opalite pendant which can go onto his necklace.
It has a silver surround of angel wings. It was instant love when I saw it.

Garnets traditionally mean commitment, opalite is for opening the 'third eye chakra..' I will stop there on that one lol.

I'm not required to wear a collar, and I don't even consider the ones I do wear to be "his" collar. Infact, he often times prefers to see me in a necklace that I have as to a collar. He did instist that I wear that necklace for a while. but that was more because he thought it looked "sexy as hell" than to represent him or anything. Infact I think that's how I came to own a collar in the first place, because he thought I'd look hot in one. *shrug*

There have been occations when we each have thought of my collar as being more than my own temporary piece, but for the most part, I don't think either one of us will consider it a "real" collar until he places one on me.

I kind of relate my current collar to a promise ring. Which is another reason I think the tag on it is so fitting. I'm here when he is able to claim me, and that's what my collar means to me. But that feeling doesn't change when I wear a choker, or the necklace he loves, or the broach he bought me. They make me think of him at times when i may not normally. You know the odd moment when the chain gets caught in my hair, or the tag clinks, or the broach sparkles in the light a bit. But with execption of the broach, they aren't from him and don't mean as much to me as they would if he had given them to me.

Yes! I think this is very common for people in a LDR. It's just nice to have something like that. For me, it is the earrings Daddy gave me. :)

exactly like that. I sometimes carry the penny that was in the jewelry box he sent me for the same reason. it really doesn't matter what the item is, as long as it keeps him in my mind. :)

I wanted to keep my ex husbands balls in my pocket when we split up, but that was for slightly different reasons.

Sadly he wouldn't lay still long enough for the necessary knife play.

:(

You're probably one of many who feel that way about their ex's. My sister comes to mind....I'm laughing out loud here...
