Apparently one-bombing all of my stories was not enough for whoever has decided they hate me, my writing, and, in all likelihood, my mother and my taste in music. In the last nine days, I've gotten more negative comments--which I am, for the first time in the years I have been on this site, deleting--than I have in my entire time on the site. And lovely personal attacks to my email as well.

My writing sucks. I'm a horrible human being. And I'm very, very stupid, just in case anyone was wondering. Since it has now become a source of amusement for me, I hope my stalker doesn't get bored or run out of insults too soon.

Well, personally, I hope that your stalker-troll discovers a new hobby. Macramé, for example. It would be a lot more productive. He or she could end up with a pot plant holder, or some weird sandals. Trolls are a fact of the Internet. But, so far, I am unable to see what good they contribute. Just keep keeping on, Ms Plum.

I suppose you could create an alt account if its as bad as you say, to shake said stalker. I can understand if it's becoming such a hassle that you can't enjoy just writing what you want to write.

But you also have to understand that such people or critics or trolls aren't really real. You're just letting them be. That kind of feedback is absolutely false. I'm not trying to give you the whole "don't listen to the trolls" speech here. They are really not legitimate.

Think about it. No one here knows you. How could they possibly know whether you're outstanding or a worthless piece of shit? It's impossible. I don't know you, and those trolls don't possess superhuman powers that I do not. When I read a story, I may hate it or even find it in bad taste. And in some small part, that may be a tiny reflection of the author. But I judge what is written when I read stories here. NOT the author. Because I can't possibly know them. The only thing I'm capable of is critique on the story itself, as it applies from my personal tastes. Writing style, grammar, content, hotness, plot, characters and story development... these are the only true things I can judge, given the evidence. If you write about something and someone hates it, and they spew senseless overreacting bile on your stories, that's a problem with who THEY are, not you. That shit is just unprofessional hate and immature etiquette utilized by people who feel the need to make others that they don't agree with feel like shit so that they may feel the smallest shred of satisfaction telling someone that they suck.

That's not real feedback. That's immature hate and stupidity. You don't have to have thick skin at all. Just learn to understand the difference between what is constructive feedback and a douchebag.

Like I said if its out of control, go make an Alt. But never ever lose faith because some random convinced you that his shortcomings in maturity and respect are your problem.

Keep writing. Your audience is there, and no troll or asshole manipulating scores or contests or anything can crush that. If at the end of the day you love writing and have at least pleased yourself, you've succeeded.

Scores aren't everything, but yours are better than most and consistently high across your entire portfolio. In other words, you have many fans who appreciate your work and rate your stories accordingly.

So don't let some solitary disgrunted individual get to you. The delete function and Gmail's spam filters were made for dealing with this type of annoyance...

I understand this is frustrating. However, I think that starting a thread about it is only going to encourage the offender. People who do these things are looking for attention, and to gain power over others. When you show them that they have this power over you - the power to make you upset - they will continue to do things to upset you.

The best thing to do is to remove all the troll's comments without replying to them, report any suspected 1-bombs (via the REPORT THIS STORY feature), ignore their emails, and pretend they do not exist. And you must be diligent in this, because even the smallest crumb of acknowledgement in their direction will feed the troll for days.

Be careful you might turn into cantbuymy prefacing everything with a rant against people who don't like him.

I'm with laurel on this one. They want attention, the idea is to provoke you into some kind of response. The best thing you can do is not give them what they want. It takes a bit of time but eventually they leave you alone.

Yes I have suffered from such things. I only deleted Racist comments which I thought would be offensive to others. I ended up posting my own comment saying "If you can't make your point without racist insults you can expect your posts to be taken down. I can delete em faster than you can post em." The offender posted another comment without racist language I left it up and he stopped. Won't work for everyone I'm afraid.

And I'm actually at a point where I'm cool with it. I had a good talk with Mr. Carlie Plum, and the feedback here was very helpful. I'm focusing on my writing, and not on this.

Strokers usually garner fewer comments. People come in, get off, and leave. No time (no clean hands) to type.

Some categories are just... empty. Especially letters and transcripts, toys and masturbation, Transsexsuals and Crossdressers, etc.

So if you're writing, say, quick strokers about Tabitha the transsexual writing a letter to her boyfriend about her battery-powered cucumber vibrator...

It would have to be genre-transcending beauty just to get a handful of comments.

I don't have sigs enabled. Didn't even know what they were until about 3 months ago. They really aren't worth the trouble. One person has a crazy sig line and then I have to scroll back and forth just to read what the normal people are writing.

I disable sigs if I am going to be hanging around in the GB. You can only look at so many Obama cartoons.

I got about a dozen of these and I am pretty sure a one bomb to go with each. Fortunately for me the categories I write in get enough votes that a bomb is not going to hurt that much, but I got these all in a few days and a few nastier e-mails as well.

around that time Sweet luscious whoever was going on in several threads about getting a lot of nasty shit on their stories. They must have deleted them as no one could find any so couldn't compare them

Now it seems Carlie is getting them as well. My point is that we either have a new troll or someone here has just started firing away.

How do I know they are from the boards? Easy, sooner or later they give themselves away like in the below comment.

I heard the story winners are fixed and you proved it. Your writing is juvenile. Fucking the shit out of her is such a great expression. You use it alot. I guess that's why your stories are so full of shit. You can't write worth shit either.

Now where did they hear contests are rigged? Its not on the home page for certain, Its from the boards and I say it all the time. This comment also came on the heels of me mentioning I used the expression "fucked the shit out of her ass" then saw how bad that sounded and did not use it. Then it gets mentioned.

Bottom line? Your/my the next person's troll is right here and reading along with us.

Who? Who knows? But scouries is always a good scapegoat and his past here gives that some credence. But I know its not him.

Maybe its someone who is always quick top point scouries out? The "hey don't look here, look there" game? Again who knows.

But it is most definitely someone here and this is going to further motivate them to keep chugging along.

With Incest, I think it's just largely haters of the category (which probably are legion) or crazies who hate that they can't stay away from the category. I imagine most of us don't dip into that pool at all, so have no idea who is posting what there.

I think the "don't let them see you sweat" advice often given here is the best way to handle trolls, carlieplum. Good luck in shaking them. If you complain about them on the discussion board, tho, I think they stick with you longer.
