Will do, I have her on my messenger.

Darlene, you amazing person! Thanks. I knew she'd never leave us for good without a goodbye. I know her that well, at least, but I'm glad for your news. She's been gone longer than this from here, before.

Do you think she'll hear me?

McKEnna is alive and well, she's been doing stuff but she's still one of us. :rose:

I followed McKenna's breadcrumbs to Abs door...

There is a lot of smoke pouring out of Abs chimney, and I hear a wicked cackling coming from inside.

Didn't Hansel and Gretal disappear somewhere around here?

Seriously, I miss our red headed technical writer. Hope she gets back soon. That 5000 posting was ominious.

I tried to sneak out quietly, but apparently I’ve been found out.

I got to thinking as I approached my 5,000th post that it’s quite possible I spend way too much time here. In ways, Literotica has been my microcosm of the world; here I have tried out new and different things like letting people past my defenses and trying to be more open about myself. These are things I struggle with in real-life relations, so it made sense to try things out here, a somewhat “safer” environment. But when does spending time here become too much?

I still don’t have an answer for that one.

Real life events have pulled me away. Mr. McKenna and I are considering a trial separation, though neither of us seem to be moving too quickly in that direction. Mr. McKenna has accepted a three-month assignment to China scheduled for the spring of 2006; that may be separation enough for the both of us to figure out what we want to do, but that is still months away. Meanwhile we’re very careful with each other while we explore the idea of living apart from each other after six years of living together and eight years of being best friends. It’s difficult to consider walking away from him when my heart is still wrapped around him. The tough decisions in life come when faced with doing what’s best for yourself in the long term, or sacrificing your needs/wants for a bit of contentment in the short term. There’s only so long any of us can fool ourselves.

Meanwhile, after a long and harrowing search, I’ve accepted a position as an “Online Content Document Specialist” –which is just a fancy title for “technical writer”. The opportunities this job will provide are plenty, and almost scary to think about.

On a side note, I’ve signed up for Scottish folk dancing classes. :) I went to a Scottish/Irish Festival this weekend to soak up some atmosphere and reacquaint myself with my roots. I’ve always had a fascination with Scotland for as long as I can remember, even before I wrote a report on the country for my 6th grade geography class when I was 11 years old. I guess some things are just in the blood. Anyway, I ran into a guy from my gym there, a man who is built like … hummina hummina…. Anyway, one of the highlights of my weekend was seeing him in a kilt. :D Of course, all the kilts were enough to keep me in a constant state of drool. I went with my lesbian sister and her partner who couldn't understand my fascination with kilted men, but teased me mercilessly nonetheless. The music, the food, the dancing, the kilts … I was in seventh heaven, which is ofttimes a great place to be, especially when it’s been a long while since I’ve been there. The only thing missing from the festival was a Scottish accent. Of course if I’d heard one of those, I’d have probably had an orgasm on the spot …just kidding. ;) I seriously need to get back to that country a.s.a.p. I should just get it over with and move there.

As for my presence or lack thereof at Literotica: I’m still here. I’ll still be here. I just needed to step away for a bit and gain some perspective. Sometimes when you work too closely with something you lose sight of the big picture. The distraction Lit provides is sometimes a lifesaver, and sometimes it throws a wrench into my already complicated existence.

Ya’ll are great, and I appreciate this thread, your concern, and your well-wishes. If you don’t see me here or on messenger it’s because I’m laying low. I imagine you will be seeing even less of me now that I’m starting this new job and –thankfully– giving up temp work. But as winter sets in and the urge to stay inside and hibernate hits, I’m sure I’ll be back looking for trouble and entertainment.

Be well,
McK

So two young girls were on a bus. Across the aisle was a Scottish man wearing a kilt. The girls giggled and whispered so much, they were irritating the man. Finally, he asked them what was so funny.

"We were just wondering what you wear under a kilt?"

"Well Lassie, you'd ave to stick your hand up there and find out?" he said in his deep brogue.

Daring one another, finally one girl did reach under. Suddenly she snatched her hand away in horror.

"Grusome" she exclaimed.

"Stick you hand back under there, lassie, and it will grew some more."

Glad you are back Mck. Best of luck with your new job, and in figuring out your life's directions.
