McConnell: Dems' irresponsible spending spree 'totally out of bounds'

None of this is going to bankrupt the government. If we need money badly, we could tax the rich like they used to be taxed, and we could do that without harming the economy -- which was really booming in the 1950s and '60s, when the top marginal rate was 70%. (Not that any millionaire paid 70% of his income -- the rate increased by increments and each rate only applied to its own increment.)

And the rest of the industrialized world lay in smoking ruins. That isn't the case anymore, and imposing those taxes would see capital flow out of America for good.

But isn't it interesting when we pine for the '50s, we're wanting Jim Crow, but you aren't, despite the almost psychotic obsession with race.

Conservatives are going to have to have to clean up the Democrats' mess once again,

Once again? Deficits always go up under Republican presidents and down under Democratic ones, ever since Reagan at least.

McConnell probably wants to shut down the government again, to keep the FBI from completing their insurrection investigations.

Yeah, why is that?

Because cutting taxes on the rich doesn't really accomplish anything except to make them richer and everyone else poorer. Everyone knows it; some people just don't care. But the Republicans have sure gotten a lot of political mileage out of lying about it.
