Maybe the wrong place, guide to the right one if so.

I'm kinda new and a little old to the sight. I have a story idea that I want to do. I'm looking for guidance on how to write in Open Office and post here. Any help is appreciated.

(Even before the "first thing," read the terms and conditions Lit requires us to conform to when posting here. If work does not conform, it will not be published.)

First, LOL, write the story. It won't make much difference what word processing program you use. Then go back over it two or three times, correcting the typos and any other mistakes you find. Then, let it sit unlooked at for at least a week (this is so your eyes will be "fresh" when you do the next step). Then...

Second, re-edit the whole thing looking not as much for errors as for ways to improve the story. When you're satisfied with that, then...

Third, try to get a volunteer editor or trusted friend to look at it WITHOUT MERCY for being new or any other excuse. HINT: IF THERE'S NO BLOOD ON THE FLOOR WHEN THEY FINISH, THEY DID IT WRONG. Listen to what they tell you and try to apply it. Then...

Fourth, rewrite it with those comments, suggestions, and advice in mind. That doesn't mean you have to compromise on every thing they mention, but it prepares you to defend against legitimate criticisms. Then...

Fifth, submit the story. Simply copy the ENTIRE TEXT of the story and paste it into the text box on your Author Profile "works" page for submissions. Answer all the necessary questions, check all the appropriate boxes. Then, Preview the story again "as it will appear" when published. Check the formatting, do a final check of spelling and punctuation. Be sure you've picked a category work like that will fit into. Pick tags that will help readers find the story. When satisfied, then...

Sixth, click the "Submit" button and cross your fingers. You'll probably know if it will be published "as is" within 2 to 4 days. If rejected, they will always give a reason--but they seldom point at the exact place that reason is being applied to. You'll have to find it on your own. Fix the error, if it can be fixed, or avoid the problem if it can be avoided. Then resubmit and wait some more.

In case you've not seen and read this, here's a link to Literotica's How-To on story submissions —> https://literotica.com/faq/05235347.shtml

I don't think these are the most clear instructions on how to submit a story, but it's a start if you have no idea.

I'm not familiar with Open Office. I do know that the Lit submission process will work with either Word.doc or rtf. formats. Another option is to do your composing directly into the Story Draft field. (You could go to the Author's Hangout Forum and ask about use of Open Office.)

I'm not sure how you're logging onto Lit,
but the so called "new control panel" is accessed directly from this Lit log-in page —> https://www.literotica.com/stories/login.php?forward=/stories/members/main.php

On the page that opens after logging in, you'll see three menu option in blue font at the top of the page. One of these is New Story. Clicking on that gets you to a menu for either a New Story, New Poem or New Artwork. New Story opens the story submission page. There'll be a number of basic questions and also a field where you can either paste your text in or you can draft the story directly into the field. (I've never used the field to actually write the story and always paste in an rtf copy of my text. But I'm sure some just write their stories here using Literotica's tools.)

I hope this gets some of your questions answered. Feel free to contact me via Private Message if you have questions. I may not be able to answer them, but I'll answer what I can.

Agree with all that, but they forgot to mention the need to come up with a snappy title.
