I've been looking for this story for ages, I read it years ago may not have been this site but I've searched all over for it.
The basic story is about boy living in a fishing village (his dad had a fishing boat maybe crabs?) who meets a girls (whose parents are rich) and become friends.
The girl comes to the beach every summer with her family and over the years the friendship develops into love.
One year when they have both graduated from high school the girls family turn up to the beach without her, it's turns out shes back at home with a tutor trying to study for an entrance exam for a ivy league college (maths or physics maybe?) and is struggling the boy who is some kind of whizz with physics and maths offers to help her study.
He ends up tutoring her for the exam and when she goes off to sit the exam her father sends the boy along with her, and unknown to the boy he has set up at interview for him to get into the college.
It's driving me crazy I'm sure it was here that I read it and I've tried so many different search strings for it to no avail, does it ring any bells with anyone?
